Animation movie of course, I'd say it's the greatest...

Just watched it for the like, 35th time with my cousin who I had to babysit. Had him scared silly but we both loved it.

No other animated film is this good. Jeremy Irons has the best villain voice ever and James Earl Jones as Mufasa, OWNS.

I like the music too, I liked the Disney animated films from the 90s partly because they all had really good musical numbers. The ones made by Pixar these days, as good as they are, lack that...

Be Prepared: Haha at the Nazi imagery

Circle of Life: Best opening to any animated film?

So what's the word, great movie, or greatest movie

There is no other choice

For a while after seeing it I thought it was a remake of Kimba: The White Lion. Actually, it pretty much is.

There was one big plot hole in Lion King that still puzzles me to this day: why did the movie make it look like the valley drying up Scar's fault? Unless he had a legion of bulldozers driven by hyenas with flamethrowers attached to their heads, it makes no sense.

That said, it's an alright movie because of Timon & Pumba.

We're pretty much talking about an uncredited rip-off almost scene-for-scene. That's just criminal. Disney would sue the pants off someone if they did that to their IP.

Toy Story and Tarzan are my favorite animated movies ever. All of the Toy Story's were amazing, and Tarzan was such a great movie. I liked Lion King, but it wasn't my favorite/the best.

He allowed the hyenas to take over the Pridelands; they stripped it of its resources. When Simba kicked them all out, the Pridelands was restored to its natural order.

You'd have to have an unfathomable amount of hyenas to do that much damage, and the amount of time for the ecosystem to bounce back from such a drastic transition would have taken much, much more time (if they were lucky to get anything back at all).

Oh dear, I think I just found another plot hole. :?

There WAS an unfathomable amount of hyenas, and it's implied (both in the movie and the sequel) that a lot of time passes between Scar's death and Simba's reign. >_>

1. Being unfathomable makes it a plot hole.

2. I haven't watched the movie in ages, sorry...But that plot hole about Scar still stuck in my head pretty well.

It's deffinately in my top 2.

I still can't believe I missed my chance to buy it when it was out on DVD. I haven't seen it in years.

Now I'm just counting down the days for its blu-ray release. New autumn. I can't wait :D

It's one of those Disney movies that was always on in my house.

Came back from school and finished watching Disney afternoon cartoon block? Lion King.

Cousin's house for the weekend? Lion King.

Great animated movie, timeless. But not the greatest.

The whole "laws of nature" thing has always bothered me, but then I remember that it's just a movie. A Disney movie, at that.

That isn't a plot hole. Scar and the hyenas drove a lot of animals away and when there are less animals around, that kinda messes up the land.
