My brother was diagnosed with bipolar disorder when he was 5.. Hes been on 65 different medications and none are seeming to work, my dad is also bipolar but has found the right meds to keep himself from going manic or into a rage. Every day its the same ol' S***. Everyday when my mom(who is normal) try's to talk to him he screams curse words at her, starts crying and runs into his room. When hes not screaming or being violent hes in an extremely manic state where all he does is laugh and talk.(BTW hes 14). My 7 year old sister shows a lot of the same things that he does and just 2 days ago she was diagnosed with bipolar as well...I am always stressed and have 4 different breakouts of the shingles rash in the past year(shingles is a nerve rash that is extremely painfull caused by abnormal levels of stress)..If there is anyone with the same situation as me plz post so I can understand that there other people that are going through the same thing im going through.

Man, I am sorry you have to go through that. I hate being caught in between an arguement.

Your brother is going through his teenage years, and slamming doors and yelling at your parents can be part of that. Here's what I want you to do. I want you to join in on some activities and get away from some of the stress. Join sports team like soccer or baseball for the summer. Just be sure you can be around friends and make plenty of new ones.

My bro's like that too, but 3? 1 doesn't seem so bad now. Yeah, I can't imagine 3x what I have to deal with. Jeez....

Well I'm bipolar apparently. I was diagnosed at 22, but prior to that people thought I was mostly just depressed due to the butterflies in the morning and extra strong anxiety. I guess not, supposedly I have um... monopolar depression or what not, so the antidepressants don't work, but lithium carbonate (exclusive to bipolar) works like a charm and I'm never anxious or depressed anymore.

I swear my brother is bipolar although he won't admit it and no one bother's to test him. My mother has depression (and this is legit depression for reasons I won't go into), and her pills for depression actually work, whereas the same prescription didn't work for me at all, and I ended up dropping them.

People often say I get angry quick, which may be the mania expressing itself... where's this "everything's awesome euphoria" though?

Maybe I'm just lucky that one little pill keeps me straight and narrow, but bipolar affects people way more than you'd think. Just a slight misalignment in the brain chemistry and you get a lot off kilter, trust me it's more common than people think.

Also, I'm not a psychiatrist... but 65 medications that don't work? You sure he's bipolar? Or is it something else? Like I said, I was misdiagnosed, thus what I tried didn't work, so are you sure that he is being treated properly or are the doctors misinterpreting what symptoms are being expressed.

Also, are you sure he takes the pills? Some of those pills have REALLY funky side effects I hear that sometimes outweigh the advantages they give.

And the above poster stated that those things are commen in kids his age..yes they are but he does those things every second of the day MOM: "jake get out of beedd its 12". Jake: "f*** you, get out of my room B****"..He has also been to juvenille hall 3 times for assualt.. He broke the arm of one kid at school when the kid calleed him a retard and hes thrown a brick at me because my music was too loud for him.. Hes also punched through are back patio glass window and cut his hand nearly in half... I am involved in sports and tommorow im leaving to maine by myself so I can visit my cousin..

I have a friend that's bipolar and she needs constant maintenance. It's really stressful. Someone would be saying something that happened in their life and she would break in with some thing like, "Thats okay, (something bad that happened to her recently)." Not sure if that's the bipolar but along with that is everytrhing you said.

Sorry, guy :(

I think my friend was diagnosed bipolar. He seems to be doing just fine now, though. Not sure what medication he's taking though.
