Lonely or Broken heart?

We all know the song, but what do you think is easier to live with? A lonely heart, or a broken heart?

I think it's easier to have a broken heart. As the old saying goes "time heals all wounds" (not that I strictly believe that anyway), but I feel as if one can learn to cope with whatever experience they had when their heart was broken. However, being lonely is something that is on-going and you can't get over it simply by forgetting. So for me, I'd much rather have my heart broken than spend my life being alone.

The correct answer is broken heart, because at least you can look back and see that you had love at one point or another. Can't really say for a lonely heart.

Better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.

Lonely, cause that's how I am. But I never had my heart broken, so I wouldn't really know..

I honestly could not choose. I have never had a broken heart and have not really been lonely before. I've had days where I felt lonely and they suck though.

You see my history is kind of weird, i always have girls around me ,having dates has never been a problem, but i still feel lonely, and that is because i still love someone who i cheated on. And no matter the amount of girls who i go ut with or have anything , i stil feel empty. I have every girl but the one i really love :(Kiuk

A person making a series of small mistakes is no different to a couple who slowly drift apart, which is no different to one person making one huge mistake.

Lonely is worse. I've had my heart broken, but going through a long lonely stretch has been much worse. albatrossdrums

Well at least when you have a lonely heart there's still hope, and although time does heal all wounds broken hearts are not fun.

That being said, I'm very careful when using the word/phrase. I would never use it unless I absolutly believed it. The problem with that is that it's hard to know when you actually believe it over feeling it in the moment/any perod of time, and the word is also quite flexible.

"I love basketball."

"I love my mum."

"I love you."

Anyway, point of this post was just to say don't lie about it.

Been there done that..Been through a lot of pain in my life..Can tell you im not the best looking guy on the planet..How ever ive been married to a great woman for the last 7 years..Can honestly say that there is more than one girl you can fall in love with...Always have hope in this..Just chin up an show woman your good side..Was very shy as a kid myself an grew out of it..Now i can go up to any female an say hey sup..We start talking..Matter of fact most of the guys if they want ot be set up at work, come to me now..Its ironic that in the past i was normally shy in that reguard an how ive change things around with girls..Trust me there is more than one girl out there for every one..

Time does heal wounds, even if a little permanent scarring is left in its place. I remember breaking up with a girl after 5.5 years and it felt like nothing would get me back on my feet for months and months, but all worked out well in the end. Just going through another break up of over 5 years and the adage that times a great healer is an important cliché to keep in the forefront of the mind when dealing with it.

This thread's really depressing...

I've never really had both, so I don't really know, but I would far rather have neither.

While it is true that - for the most part - you can heal a broken heart, lonliness can be defeated as well.... once you realize that the majority of people you might think are friends are just there to either use you or take advantage of you.

What's really sad and telling in this is when one has come into some financial success: everyone you thought was a friend seems to change completely, and become borrowers instead of friends.

I find that having a broken heart is worse than being lonely, for the reason that while feeling heartbroken the emotions felt are more intense. That being said, I still prefer being heart broken because there are still the good times that were had to look back on.
