Looking down on poor people.

Whats the point of looking down on poor people? I don't get any respect from a lot of people because I don't walk around looking like I am balling. One of my professor don't even talk to the poor students in class. What can you learn from a mother fucker like that? Having a couple of grands in your bank account dosent make you a king. Even if you were a millionaire theres always someone whos gona make you look like you belong in the trash can. People like this disgusts me. Why do people do it?

How does a professor know someone is poor in class? I sometimes dress worse than some students (generic sweat pants and t-shirt). Yet, I've never had any teacher not talk to me.

Ever get stopped by one of those guys who claim to be a vet and asks for money? I give it to them even though I, myself am broke. One guy said he was a vet and was in a wheelchair.. I gave him ten dollars and he said: "Is that all?". I always want to tell them I was a Second Lieutenant in the Army but I never do. Whether they are lying or not, it's safe to assume they are vets. What do you guys think?

We all have ups and downs. You could be rich for a few years and burn through all your money. I never looked down on poor people because I've been poor my whole life.

Just be yourself. Don't be that person, be you. I'm not rich nor poor, I just dress to look cool, not rich.

Vet or not someone says that to me and I'm taking my money back.

Yeah, I don't buy that. You might be perfectly happy with yourself, but if your surroundings have different expectations or ideals, then it's going to weigh down on you to a certain extent. A lot of people will either sacrifice their own happiness in order to please others or they can't be satisfied with who they are until other people approve of them. Western society might be individualistic and self-centered, but a lot of people are desparate for other people's approval.

@loafofgame: I heavily dislike the place I live in and the people around me, yet I am perfectly happy and couldn't care less whether they approve of me or not. It wasn't easy but it's perfectly possible.

I'm going to sound very selfish but I don't really like to give money to panhandlers, because I'm always afraid that they're faking it, especially saying that they're veterans.

I'd rather give my money to charities and organizations dedicated to helping the poor.

Last year, my wife paid a visit to the Philippines to access the damage done to her family business. But, she also took the time to help those rendered homeless by the super-typhoon that hit back in late 2013. She stayed awhile, distributing donations directly and spending her own money if needed be. Here, she gave a bunch of kids something to cheer about.

Next year, my wife will do another trip there. I'll be going along. Hopefully the lines (of the needy) won't be as long.

Well, I wasn't being definitive. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's not always possible, nor is it, as you said, always easy. What you said is that if you like who you are, you won't be bothered by people looking down on you. I think that in a lot of cases that's probably not true. You can perfectly like who you are, but you can also still be affected by people who look down on you for being who you are.

That's good to see. I was only saying that one of the biggest use of the internet these days is whining about yourself. Facebook/tweeter. I need to help myself before I can hlp he world. Thats what I am after right now,.
