Good friend. Budget? Music preferences? Look at: Mad Dogs by Mr.Speakers, Audio Techinica M50, Brainwavz HM5, Ultrasone HFI550, and the Sennheiser Momentum. Out of the ones I listed I recommend the Mad Dogs the most. There are basically a closed LCD2 which is a $1000 headphone(http://audeze.com/audeze-lcd2-bamboo) and there extremely comfortable.

No I was saying that the Mad Dogs ($250) are as good as the $1000 LCD2's. http://www.mrspeakers.com/MrSpeakers-Mad-Dog-Fostex-T50RP-Headphones

. Best pair of headphones on the market. I've got a pair and I used them on stage at a big festival as part of the camera team and I could hear the director as clear as day.

depends how much you're willing to pay. I'd start off with something like audiotechnica athm50s if you're not deep into audio, yet. They're a good starter until the really expensive ones.

I have these headphones. In fact, I'm wearing them right now. As far as comfortability goes, they far exceed anything I've ever worn (I'm not a headphone expert, though, and haven't tried many pairs) and for listening to music they are pretty awesome (especially for the low price tag). If the Beats headphones I've tried at Best Buy are any indication as to how the actual headphones sound and feel, these are many times better.

I've honestly been wearing these headphones for the last hour and even though I'm not listening to anything I keep them on and don't notice (they are really that comfortable and they cut out some of the background noise). My only problem is they look kinda ridiculous at first, but you get used to it.

Get the Mad Dogs for $250. You'll thank yourself. As for more affordable I guess the Ultrasone Pro550.

Beyerdynamic, Grado, Shure, AKG.

Stay away from surround sound or gaming headsets.

Go to the audio forum instead of offtopic for much better info on this. There is an entire thread dedicated to separating the best headphones into different price ranges and types of headphones within those ranges.

Beats or Sony's X series seem to be the prefered brands of professionals. If you're just looking for something to listen with you can find all kinds of headphones from the notoriously cheap Coby headphones (3beans) to the ULTRASONE brands (1500 beans). The quality is not just in the sound but in how durable the headphones actually are.

Fyi OP, Dre himself uses Audio Technica, his headphone lines are more overpriced per $ than a Mac. They arent very sturdy and just sound like a low end kicker subwoofer that drowns out the instruments/vocals.

If you must buy them than get the Pros they are okay but overpriced, solos leak and sounds like crap period. Xb500 has plenty of punch for cheap and I guess the xb700 is even better.

I'm sporting a ultrasone dj1 at 100-$150 range with good amount of bass without drowning out the rest of the spectrum. Pro 900 @$300 will be leaps and bounds over Beats in overall sound quality, actually just about any audio(phile) brand from $100 and up will beat it. Go read up headfi, or gamespot audio section, you will need to do some reading if you want what is good for your ears!

The Audio Technica ATH-M50 is a great pair of headphones. Costs about $130.

Do not buy Skullcandy headphones. They always break within a very short amount of time. I always take care of my possessions, but yet I've been through 4 pairs of Skullcandy headphones within less than a year.

I recommend Sony, myself personally. Never had a problem with their headphones so far.

meconate

I second this. SkullCandy's break like nothing.

I'm in need of headphones as well and using this thread to se what to choose as well.

To all recommending the M50's they only have a slight emphasis in bass and are overrated. I recommend the Ultrasone Pro 550.

Nehh, get the dj1 instead. The pro550 has less bass, but better soundstage.

Though if the OP wants bloated bass the pro700mk2 AT isnt bad, but I didn't like them overall and sold them.
