So yeah... Im not terribly crazy about cookie monster sounding vocals. Despite lsiting Killswitch Engage, Otep, Kittie and a few other (near metal) bands, i still only like select songs from them. On the other side of the coin, I like one or two songs from Thievery Corporation....but in general, that band puts me to sleep. Also, not a big fan of siger-songwriter acoustic stuff.

If the band you are recommended is a popular classic rock band that i havent listed (AC/DC, Queen, Slayer, etc) Im familiar with them. Just looking for artists that are unheard of or putting out new things.

Up for some punk rock? Go for Dead Kennedys, Misfits, Bad Religion. They haven't put out a lot of stuff, so you can easily get to their whole discography, but give them a listening on youtube and get to their first albums if you like anything.

I see Interpol is not on your list. If you don't know them I wholeheartedly recommend checking out at least their 1st album Turn On The Bright Lights; I don't really like the rest of their work but that album is one of my all-time favorites and definitely one of the best to come out the last decade.

On a side note: would you mind listening to music in a foreign language, or does it have to be english?

Liking Fleet Foxes and Deer Hunter a good bit from sampling. Not liking The Tallest Man Alive very much, but thank you for the refreshing suggestions!

Im sorry, im hispanic and can speak spanish fluently. So, it never occured to me that spanish is "foreign" to me. So yes, spanish rock is perfectly acceptable. Milka and Ill Nino (from my list) and bands with both spanish and english songs.

Thank you for the suggestions.

Well, it's always safer to assume any given user here would not speak spanish at all, let alone fluently. :P

I'm mexican, by the way.

Looking at your tastes, you may like the Deftones, Boxer Rebellion, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (first two albums are straight rock, third album is more acoustic Western). I also highly recommend the album Song in the Air by Elliott. Oh, and Sigur Ros is from Iceland :P

Where's the grunge? Sure you have Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Nirvana, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. How about some Screaming Trees, Mad Season, L7, Mudhoney, Melvins or Alice in Chains?

Primus, Henry Rollins and Toadies are also not on the list, if you're feeling real adventurous you could also try Fantomas, especially their Delirium Cordia album. Tom Waits is also a winner, especially if you like alcohol and cigarettes.

I'm going to suggest Marillion, specifically the Fish era (which begins with "Script for a Jester's Tear" and ends with "Clutching at Straws"). Some of Fish's solo stuff is quite good, too.

id suggest Hollywood Undead. their American Tragedy album is more rock oriented than their swan songs album.

Glory and Tendencies are the two most rock songs on American tragedy, so thats a good place to start with them.:D

you might like acid bath. their second album, paegan terrorism tactics, is probably less screamy. if not, deadboy and the elephantmen is a different side. i think their first album, we are night sky, is their best.

So you're into more modern sounds... Built to Spill The Futureheads The Maccabees Art Brut Bloc Party (they're not putting out new stuff, but they're a fantastic band nonetheless. Listen to their first two albums.) Modest Mouse Neutral Milk Hotel The New Pornographers Joe Satriani (I see you have Chickenfoot in there. Check out Joe Satriani's solo stuff!!!) Dream Theater Porcupine Tree Radiohead Pink Floyd (I know you said you didn't want classic rock, but their music has aged very well and is on par with some music today. Listen to their Animals album, you won't be disappointed.) The Shins Maximo Park The Vaccines Vampire Weekend The Dead Weather Some to check out.

this might not be what you wanted, but its still a pretty neat track. It's house, or whatever, according to the tags. I just call it love.

You could try some early punk bands like The Clash, The Ramones, and Sex Pistols.

All That Remains. Surprised you don't already have them... Similar to Five Finger Death Punch, more screaming I guess, but still understandable. PLus they have a great guitarist. If you like Fleet Foxes, you should try Midlake, very soothing melodic folk rock.
