i read them and they were great.
a lot of people who read them think of they're really awesome and brag about it cause they actually read a book instead of just seeing the movies. you'll find a lot of LOTR fans around here that are like that.

I prefer Peter Jackson's imagination rather than mine, so the movies it is for me.
[QUOTE="RiSkyBiZ-13"]JRR Tolkein invented fantasy. The Hobbit and the LoTR series are unbeatable in the genre._Tobli_
You're saying that no writer could ever make a fantasy novel that would be better than J. R. R. Tolkien's? :|
well no one has until now...and i think it will stay forever..because every1 who writes fantasy gets alot of inspiration from LOTR

1. You have read every fantasy novel ever published?
2. This won't go anywhere because it's just opinion. No matter how strange i think it sounds.
3. That a writer gets some inspiration from Tolkien. Doesn't mean that his/her work is inferior imo.
I've read the whole trilogy a few times. It's a little dense and florid at times, but overall a great read. Elraptor
I did'nt like the part in the Fellowship where after the ordeal with the barrow wights , Tom Bombadil encouraged the hobbits to strip and run naked with each other :|
