They're ok. Certainly no replacement for reading the actual books, though.michelleztrue, but for films there very good :)

I didn't care for them actually.KG86:o oh, how come? I thought they were poorly paced, and the 3rd film was a carbon copy of the 2nd.fair enough :)
yea they are awesome films... but really to save all those hours u just needed to watch this :PAltiar25:P

Lol...I've seen that before, but someone made a very good point...possible
the flying Nazgul wouldn't have let them get that far, and the eagles couldn't have fought them off while carrying people
Anyway, I love the films...have watched the extended editions a few times already...
Wait... these were based on books? i thought these were based on movies??
The first one is the best out of the trilogy, mainly because it was a spitten image of the book.zakkro

I loved the movies and the books, the books were obviously better than the movies however, but i don't think a better version of the books could have been made into film, they are as good as they possibly could be.

I love the movies, they are some of my favorite. Getting lost in the world of fantasy is an experience that nothing can compensate for. aaaaarrrrgggggbeautiful :)
I first read The Hobbit and TheLord of the Rings when I was a kid. I loved them, and I was really psyched some years ago to hear that a live action film trilogy was being made. I thought that technology had caught up to portraying Tolkien's world, and Peter Jackson's films most certainly did. Many scenes were flawlessly done, in that I could not possibly imagine a better view of Middle Earth.

Nicely stated. I feel the same way.

The Lord of the Rings does represent a life's work. Tolkien didn't just write a story; he created an insanely detailed world in which they take place. Other fantasy mythologies are pale imitations of it.
I'm going to have to be honest here and say that Lord of The Rings films are just above average at best. They are not Amazing, they are not good. They are just above average. I read the books much before the movies were made. I watched the movies several times, and the more I watched them the more I realized they weren't that epic.EMOEVOLUTIONjust above average..... my a%#e and all those academy awards and other accolades mean nothing??? not that awards make a movie, but come on. its Lord of the Rings. there just awesome!

Are you being serious? Just curious...because Tolkien, the author of the books, died in the 1970's...way before Jackson's version of the books came out...only stating that in case you were being serious...if you weren't, then kindly disregard my post, lol.
