Did anyone ever thought how it would be like to lose the sense of touch and feel (which his probably impossible but anyway)? Thats got to be the weirdest **** in the world, it would kinda be like floating, but when your floating you still feel the air, your clothes, your skin and stuff, so it wouldnt be really be like floating, it would be like if you were.............NOTHING!!!!:o

Your thoughts???

Once, both of my legs fell entirely asleep due to sitting cross-legged on the floor for two hours. It feels somewhat odd, and after attempting to get up i realised my legs had become paralyzed for the time being:(

One time I woke up and I felt an arm under my pillow and I freaked.

Turned out one arm fell asleep and I felt it with the other hand - scared the heck outta me.

I would rather lose touch than sight or hearing.  But people can lose touch from nerve damage or brain issues.

Yes and no. I know that you're a doctor in real life so you know what you're talking about, but I was saying that because your name is "DoctorFunk", which doesn't seem like a real name.

Nope, actually different. Processed in different part of the brains, transmitted by different parts of the spine (posterior columns for touch, vibration sense and position sense. Spinothalamic tract for pain and temperature sense).

I'd hate to lose my sense of touch. You would be unaware if you were, say, in contact with something that was burning you.

It's possible to lose your sense of touch if you somehow damaged the part of your brain which makes physical feeling possible. And i guess it would feel funny though.

A patient who has horrible pains without anything touching him. A thalamotomy is the surgical resection of the thalamus.

Thats got to be the weirdest s*** in the world, it would kinda be like floating, but when your floating you still feel the air, your clothes, your skin and stuff, so it wouldnt be really be like floating, it would be like if you were.............NOTHING!!!!:o

Your thoughts???

Yes, it's called paralysis...  And sometimes I sleep funny so my hand gets numb and it takes a few minutes for it to regain sensation when I wake up.

Reminds me of when I fall asleep on one side and my arm falls asleep. When I roll over my arm just flops over and hits my stomach. It was so weird cuz I felt my hand hit me but I couldn't feel it in my arm.

No if you shot yourself. You wouldnt feel the bullet but you still get the pain.

pain -An unpleasant sensation occurring in varying degrees of severity as a consequence of injury, disease, or emotional disorder.

Straight from dictionary.com....

Pain is the feeling you get, not the actuall damage...

So then you just proved yourself wrong, im done here.
