It was one of the most emotionally moving finales to a show I've ever watched. I cried at LEAST four times during it. That being said, the plot devices could have done with a little more explanation, but I suppose they don't call it Lost for nothing. I loved it though, and I can't wait to own the DVD box set for the entire series.
[QUOTE="grape_of_wrath"]It was exquisitely done, yet remarkably stupid, all at the same time...sharkenleoHow so? The show bears no logical sense what so ever. And the last season which was supposed to explain things and put them into perspective gave some very stupid answers. (From "you created this place to find each other.." explanation thing to the giant unexplained statue and the unattended loose ends)The show is far fetched to say the least and did not solve anything logically in the end.But it was awesome TV...

I figured the statue was probably built by Egyptians who probably stumbled upon the island eons ago. The show makes a point to show that people have been tied to the island since the beginning of civilization pretty much. I thought it would've been cool if the island turned out to be the Garden of Eden and the light was in factGod, though they pretty much confirm that by the end of the finale. I understand your opinion on the plot devices, but I don't think they were stupid. Just not as fleshed out and properly explained as they could've been. My biggest gripe honestly was magic wine. I mean, come on really? Magic wine for protecting the island??

I don't think it was the wine that was important, it was the ritual of the protector offering a drink to the candidate in order to take his spot. Jack drank water, as did Hurley. Also, I think it's obvious the statue was built by egyptians. There's probably been protectors on the island for pretty much all of history, and one of them was likely egyptian.[QUOTE="sharkenleo"][QUOTE="grape_of_wrath"]It was exquisitely done, yet remarkably stupid, all at the same time...grape_of_wrathHow so? What was the most emotional reunion for you? Mine was Charlie and Claire's. I bawled when he died, so it was great to see them finally get to be together.

If you paid attention the wine was just a drink "mother" used. Jacob and Jack both used water to pass the Protector ability on.[QUOTE="Ultrabeatdown55"]

Sawyer and Juliet and Locke by himself. I only cried at the final moments though.Im pretty indifferent i loved the show but the alt timeline part was completely useless to me. I didnt like the direction they took with it. Also anybody that watched the show for the mythology was basically shafted. Not to mention they turned the whole show around to be all about Jack which i never felt this show was all about him. IT was about ALL the survivors having to move on past an important roadblock and the island helped them move on. Now i did cry 3 times, Charlie and Claire, Juliet and Sawyer, and Sayid and Shannon. Also teared up when Hurley told Ben he was a great #2. I loved the island part though. Loved how they turned it all around at the end and Ben and Hurley became the protectors. ALthough i do feel MIB got shafted the whole series.

actually if you think more then 5 seconds the answers are very apparent. What answers do you want? because if i know your questions i could probably tell you most of them.
The egyptians were there before Jacob and MIB were born that is why the statue is there, it is also a statue for fertility. We know the women on the island could not have babies or they would die. The statue was built to the fertility god Taweret. We can asume they were there before Jacob and MIB because the MOther spoke latin and so did the boy's real mother which the egyptians did not speak. The egyptians settled on the island and saw the smoke monster as a deity, we can see this were jacob lives. THey carved a rune were it showed anubis and the smoke monster. Now this leads to there being more then one smoke monster. The smoke monster was not an evil anomaly until Jacob's brother was thrown into the cave because he did not want the job, you had to choose to have the job he never did. The smoke monster was the protector of the island before jacobs brother turned into it. We are led to believe Jacobs crazy mother was a smoke monster as she can take out whole villages and ruin a whole cave. She was not evil she was just protecting the island from humans.
The more I think about it, the more I dislike it.
I don't think I "hate" it. I just.. dislike it.

I just think, the people that were really into Lost, looking into every piece of it.. Love the finale.. others don't..
It's just how into the series you were, and how you saw it..
Because for what they intended it was almost perfect, and "i laugh at the people thinking otherwise"
It was unbearably cheesy and made me reanalyze whether it was right that I wasted time of my life watching TV of all things, when I could be experiencing life. Suffice to say that won't happen again.
But if you didn't see this coming since the third episode of season 6, then I don't know what to tell you.
Were people really holding out on complaining until the 90 minute finale? Like it was going to resolve any "mysteries" in that space of time?
Because for what they intended it was almost perfect, and "i laugh at the people thinking otherwise"

I reworded what I said. I don't laugh at the people that hold that opinion, I just laugh at the opinion itself.
Also, no, I don't believe their intentions are perfect.

Ah okay :P Fair enough, but what Lost has built up to it was perfect.. and i deem whether you see that or not to be how into the show you have been.. I've been watching it religiously and anyone i have known to be the same have loved it, just how i see things..I laugh at you when you say Six Feet Under was amazing. Yes, I watched it all. That's why it's called a fantasy story. Doesn't need to be 100% plausible. Man, I knew it wouldn't be 100% plausible in the very first episode when we first encounter the monster. If you're really basing it on how unbelievable it is, then you need to use that same measuring stick for any scifi fantasy.... I think you'll find a lot of them aren't very plausible when it comes down to it. Besides, if they had explained all the mythology of the island, how would that leave any question or even possibility for some continuance of the Lost story (not in tv form, but maybe books or even graphic novels). I would love to see a book series written that chronicles Hurley and Ben's time as protectors of the Island, and that would be a great way to expand on and explain a lot of the mysteries left of the show. Sure it wasn't the greatest finale ever, but for me personally it was the most moving. I had fallen in love with some of these characters and the type of closure I was given for them all was flawless.

heres the problem people like you will not be happy about any answers they give, yes if you read that to me six years ago i would have still watched it. Sounds better then i thought the show was six years ago which was just survivor drama **** ALso how is it farfetched that egyptians reached the pacific ocean? There are many theories that egyptians touched a lot of the world. Pyramids, teachings, math, etc. Now as far as the two boys sure its stupid sounding to anybody that hasnt watched the show but if you did watch it then its simply a lot more going on between all the characters then what you laid out. Also its a fictional show, its not suppose to be factua. In lost world Jacob has special powers, and so does the smoke monster. Get use to it and dont look into everything like there has to be an answer.
Also if you think all this is farfetched and you actually watched it, you should have stopped at the point where they moved the island, because that right there makes it fictional to a whole different extreme not to mention the time travel aspects.
I watched every episode of LOST. Loved it for the most part, however I thought it dragged on for one season too long. And please no LOST fanboys get on my back, I couldn't be bothered with what I think are the most annoying fans I have come across on the internet.

Thats nice and everything, but in the overall scheme of things, I didn't like it at all.

Yeah i heard about that!Well it's still relevant. I think I can still express my opinion about a show which I spent years watching. LOST is hardly the end all be all some make it out to be. The best show of all time surely can't be one that has so many plot holes, inconsistency and crap episodes, can it?Loved it, I can't wait for the Series Boxset to see the 12-14 mins of Hurley and Ben on the island!
