If major pc gaming companies such as EA make Mac games, mac will be as good as pc for gaming.bloody1f4knightIt doesn't matter. Windows can be run within Mac OS X, and as such, Mac OS X allows people to play whatever they want whilst keeping Windows locked up and unable to cause harm. >_>

I think another reason why there aren't that many games on the Mac is because of licensing and market share. Apple is notorious of getting/wanting license control over stuff that will work on their system. I'm not saying that Microsoft doesn't either, but Apple seems to be a bit more strict about these things. Plus another big deal is that the market share is mainly PC.

thats not really true.
Macs dont have nearly the kind of hardware that PCs do. And, on the rare occasion when they do manage to have nice hardware, it often exceeds 2000 dollars in cost (where if it were a PC, it would likely be 1200).
With that said, Macs can game effectively with utilities like Boot Camp or whatever its.
However, if games matter that much to you, you should just go ahead and purchase a PC since its cheaper, better, and easier to game on.

yeah true true. It's really hard to stand for mac when it comes down to a gaming subject haha.
As long as Starcraft 2 comes on Mac like planned, I'm fine:D-Sniper99-
haha tell me about it.. well actually if Madden 09 comes out on mac, I will be the happiest guy on earth.
Correction: Macs are better for almost everything except games. SolidSnake35As much as i hate to admit it youre right. I would have a mac but im a gamer; but due to the fact that my seemingly new (Dec 2004) pc is practically obsolete in todays world (what with DX10 and quad core processors) i might as well switch to mac since im goin to college soon and wont have time to game as much.

so true.
Why do I sense you guys both have a MAC? Hmmm....[QUOTE="iam2green"][QUOTE="SolidSnake35"]Correction: Macs are better for almost everything except games. blackngold29
so true.
Why do I sense you guys both have a MAC? Hmmm.... We're more trustworthy. Most Mac users have used Windows more than Windows users have used Macs. ;)One of my friends is a diehard Mac supporter and he plays games on his G5. Sure he may not be as hardcore of a gamer when it comes to desktop computers, since they are somewhat limited in graphics support, but one would find that performance on a Mac is better using lower rated technology then gaming PC's. Compare the price of a good gaming laptop to a Macbook Pro, to get the same kind of efficiency you would wind up spending about the same amount on something like a Dell or Alienware or maybe an Asus. In retrospect, an 8600M GT is not going to be the same on a Windows machine as it will be on a Mac, in reality it will actually be a better performing card on the Mac in the end. I have seen a Macbook Pro with a 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2 GB's of RAM and an Nvidia 8600M GT 512MB dedicated graphics card run newer games better the most 2000 dollar laptops.
Correction: Macs are better for almost everything except games. SolidSnake35I second that, I just got mine yesterday and I'm amazed at its performance
I dual boot Windows and Mac with bootcamp. I can honestly say that the Mac OS is superior. There's just so many more features in OS X that make everything easier and more productive. When I use Windows I feel almost lost without Expose, Quick Look, and Spotlight. I like both OS's and don't have any major problems with either, but when it comes down to it, I prefer OS X. I think that If you're a hardcore PC gamer, you shouldn't get a Mac. If you expect to be able to play all of the games on Mac that you could on Windows, you're an idiot. Even with Bootcamp, the quality of Windows games probably won't be as good they would on a high-end PC because you can't really edit graphic cards and all that stuff. But, seriously, if you don't play games on your computer like all the time, you'd prbably find OSX to be the better OS.

If he plays on Mac he's a Macgamer. Of course being a Macgamer is just vastly inferior version of being a PCgamer, buit he still is a gamer
Mac gamers situation won't improve much untill Macs have marketshare that's bigger than statistical margin of error

Stop with this nonsense propaganda. After the embarassingly untrue Apple commercials nobody is going to believe Mac users anyway :D

I noticed that the Mac Pro has changed in customization. One was limited in graphics to a few older cards, but now you can get up for 4 ATI Radeon HD2600 XT graphics cards but for some reason only a single 512 MB 8800 GT as well as the Quadro FX 5600. Since Nvidia and ATI are putting out PCI-e cards that support OpenGL 3 AND DirectX 10, Mac's are going to get that advantage over PC gamers. The Mac Pro was pretty limited in graphics options, but now it can compete with most build to order gaming PC's.
Lemme set the scene, for the past 5 years my friend and I have been arguing constantly over which is better, keeping in mind that we are both talking about it from a gamers perspective. He believes that he is still a gamer despite the fact that he has a MAC, and even though he has a 360 all he plays is Halo so that doesn't really count. Anyway to put it out there, there is no such thing as a MAC gamer, they don't exist, MAC's are good for making movies, and making pictures, and...well thats about it really. It seems even Apple has accepted it and is giving people the chance to use windows on their MAC's with Boot Camp, they sound so confident (sarcasm), so does anyone else feel that MAC's owners should be considered gamers?DiabolicalX
No...especially since he has a 360/no PC. Xbox is the epitome of casual gaming...casual gamers aren't real gamers.

Those commercials are based on truth, even if they are embellished quite a bit.the first ones were, not the new ones. Especialy the one with the japanese camera/girl (where in reality you would actualy have Windows doing OK, while OSX would have problems
Both OSes and systems have their advantages and disadvantages, I've used both and neither one is superior to the other one overall, it's all about what you need and where you live
I propose the merge of apple and microsoft to create microapples and the by extention PCAC's, and the IBOX
now that would be hilarious, but seriously I acknowledge that a MAC is better for things like movie making and picture editing and so forth, in fact if I wasn't a gamer then I would probably own a MAC book or something else with either book or I in it. But PC's are still better for everything else, they are upgradable, and therefore more affordable and also run every single program available, except for the MAC programs of course
Macs are more enjoyable to use and boast far superior features that are built right into the OS. Sure, there are more programs for Windows, but most of them are useless and anything worth having is either made for Mac OS X too or there's an alternative. As for upgrading... just buy a Mac that'll last for a good few years. No one wants the same computer forever.I propose the merge of apple and microsoft to create microapples and the by extention PCAC's, and the IBOX

Macs? More enjoyable to use? Maybe for someone who started out on a Mac. My friend's family used to be Mac only but I convinced him to use Windows XP for games and he doesn't miss Macs one bit.
