MacGyver : An Icon of an Era

Ever since I was a kid, I always was fascinated with MacGyver. He was always ready to save the day, no matter what he had available. He was a symbol of the days of adventure TV. In the 1980's, TV was about action and adventure, and Mac really showed us just that. But he wasn't the bloodthirsty Rambo or Commando, he never used guns. He shunned violence and yet still managed to survive another week. I watch it still today, the contrast of his show to today's programming evident. We now live in a time where reality and drama are some of the more common genres on the tube. But I still prefer Mac's inventive escapades to today's Grey's Anatomy. There's nothing like a good ol' dose of MacGyver to brighten the day.

MacGyver is awesome. I don't remember many episodes though because I was still hella young when it was on. I think this vid is quite appropriate here lol. It's a kick ass drum rendition of the opening theme.

I'm not bad-mouthing Grey's Anatomy, but it just isn't my cup o' tea. Too much drama in my life already. I like a good adventure, some escapism in my shows.

For anyone not cogniscant of MacGyver, I recommend that you rent the seasons and catch up. It was truly a legendary program.
