Just upload the thing to another image hosting site and don't bother with trying to upload it here, copy the url in the box and hit the apply changes button.

The size won't matter. The site will host it, and then you can delete it if you don't want it on your computer. You can still use it online.

As long as it is a url you can use it as your avatar, but if its too big you won't get the whole image in your avatar. In Photobucket you have the option to reduce it to thumbnail size, then you can copy the url and make it your avatar.

It shouldn't reduce it at all unless it exceeds photobucket 's limits, all you have to do is avoid pressing the upload button gamespot has right next to the box and make sure it's under 80x80 of course.

No it will still remain the same size but the deal is when you tell gamespot to link to the image it doesn't matter how big the file is. Gamespot isn't hosting it, it's only linking the file from another website. As far as I know photobucket doesn't have an upload limit that I've sceen. Although I would imagine it's something around 50mbs.

if your image is over 50k, just uplaod it to www.photobucket.com and host it from there, that will solve all sig, avy and banner image limations reguardless of the file size of the image.

Something even more convenient i found out was the image tab in our profiles, there doesn't seem to be any kind of size limitations you can upload i've noticed so far.

Must be a relatively new problem, it was working fine for me two to three days ago.

yeah i agree, if you use photobucket or imageshack, then the file size will decrease dramatically.
