http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSsyY2lxXWEso

people now face a years jail time and 2,000 fine for doing whatever you want in your own home. Its not like the guy was stood at the window dancing around, he was making coffee ffs. Apparently this women cut across HIS property as a shortcut - no wonder she saw him.

If I was that guy, I would go and stand outside her house and just stair into their windows, see how she likes that.

The only way you can get arrested is if you're in plain view of the public. :? I hope the charges get dropped, which will most likely happen.

Nope she should have kept the **** off his front lawn, no ifs and buts here she is in the wrong. It does indeed sound like she needed some drama and maybe thinks being an ex coppers wife entitles her to be a peeping Tom (which if a man were to do he would be arrested).

If I can't make coffee in the nude, then the terrorists have already won. Btw, it's funny that you used a British news source to this - it is in the news all around here. (DC area). And yes, you'd think that we Americans would have more important things to worry about. Remember the Janet Jackson 'scandal'? There are still far too many Puritanical beliefs here.

What a complete waste of time and money. I'm from Virginia, so this is particularly disturbing.

It's even more disturbing that "officers are concerned" because he lives across from the bus stop. I guess if you live in the vicinity of a bus stop, you should go into lock down mode every time you want to take a shower, drink a beer, watch an R rated movie/do anything that someone might deem "morally bad" for kids and would sue you for. I'm sure this crazy woman's son is scarred for life because he saw another man making coffee without any clothes on.

Wow. What a waste a time. People need to learn to stay out of other people's business. It seems like so many people these days are just looking for something to offend them so they can cause a ruckus.

I will be sure to go to bed fully dressed now, because I wouldn't want to offend anyone who breaks into my house, goes into my room, and pulls off the bedcovers to see me in the nude.

Keep the curtains drawn if you're walking around naked. Easy fix....legally if you are in view of the public you have to be properly covered.

I don't think it matters that she was on his property. It's like when people injure themselves on your premises and you are liable.

What's this world coming to. We can't even be naked at all now if someone's watching us through the windows. I'm surprised the police even arrested him after hearing his side. Just... what the hell.

I often worry about this type of stuff. My wife and I were gettin' freaky deaky the other night, and she was worried that it may be possible for someone to see us in the act. I think that ppl should mind their own business, but most ppl don't. We take precautions (cover windows and such), but sometimes the mood strikes you, and you may then neglect to consider if your business can be seen on the street lookin' in. We often walk through our house in the buff, but who's to say that if someone was walking by your house that they may try to look in and then call the authorities on your behavior. If you don't want to see such things then just mind your own business. We don't let it all hang out in front of open windows, but every once in a while you forget. I mean it's your house. So if you feel like making a PB&J sandwich while nude that shouldn't be a crime:P

Yes we should all try and make the precautions to stop such a thing from happening, but it's your house. If we allow the authorities to punish us for such things then where would it end?

If authorities don't punish it then how could they stop exhibitionists from exposing themselves to children by standing in the window naked? That is why the law is in place.

Nothing new or wrong here... It's simple - if your family jewels are visible in public - you are going to be arrested. I guess if you just don't lift up the curtain, nobody will tell you anything :)

If I saw a guy naked in his house, I wouldn't like it, but I defeinetely wouldn't call the police over it. Some people are just way too senseitive and sue-happy these days. :?

It may be against the law to be nude, but still, the guy was in his own house and he just woke up, and it was dark in the house, so I don't think he should get any serious punishment over this since it was just a harmless mistake. I wonder how this woman was able to see the guy naked, as well, considering it WAS dark in the house. :|

While the woman obviously has issues, the guy should also draw the blinds/curtains if he's going to walk around naked in his house. They're both in the wrong.

Most people would expect that if they're in their own homes they're no longer in public. It would be different if this guy was rubbing his genitals against the window and calling out to the woman and her kid, but in this case it's obvious he thought he was in private and couldn't be seen, a completely reasonable belief given that he was in his own freaking house by a window that no one should have been walking past.

If I were him I would turn around and sue the woman for sexual harrasment. She is a peeping tom (peeping jane?) after all; she went onto someone's property without permission, looked into their window, and saw them naked.

I saw my neighbors having sex before... :?

I didn't call the call the police! I was disturbed... And thought maybe they shouldn't be so close to a window... Or on their dining table...

But yeah.

While the woman definitely should be charged, public view is if anyone can see you. It doesn't matter if you're humping the window or just getting coffee; if someone not in your house sees your jewels then it's public.

Following that logic I could only get undressed in bathroom and basment, because people can see your jewles even through closed curtains with an infrared visor. The color would be changed but the shape would stay the same:P

I don't dispute that's the law. What I dispute is that it's a reasonable law and that the woman and police reacted reasonably.

@shinian - and if I follow your logic, I can stand up naked on my balcony and the people will be guilty, because they are looking at "my property"

No matter, nudism is respected where I live and I bet the cops don't anything against it too. And so I don't  But it should be treated as "over the law", because imagine that a little kid passes? Such things can really mess up your mind when you are at little age, I've experienced it. When I first saw a naked girl, I was like "the hell is that?!" and then was affraid of them for few weeks

Nope... stuff like this happens all the time here. Our culture is very dysfunctional and silly.
