Maybe because he lacks the 100,000+ dollars they cost (according to article). That's a lot of work when you can just buy one if you need one that bad.

It is an extremely good replica of an R8, but if you look at them side by side, you can see major differences.
Without looking at it closely, like it driving by you, or you passing it in a parking lot or something, most people probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference, it's definatley well built.
Damned impressive replica.... [QUOTE="Pirate700"]Maybe because he lacks the 100,000+ dollars they cost (according to article). I don't think you understand how much a project like that would cost in parts, time and labor spent. That's a lot of work when you can just buy one if you need one that bad.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. For the price of all the materials, time, and labor, he could've probably bought a real Audi R8. Also they cost about $120,000 where I'm at (Pennsylvania), I know because I live about 5 miles from an Audi dealership and when I was looking at Audi TT's/S4's, I saw one there. Price tag was like $120k.[QUOTE="raven_squad"]Damned impressive replica.... [QUOTE="Pirate700"]

so instead of buying a nice car for around 50k, he takes a crappy car, wastes money on it, and essentially does it to fool people.
Bravo
"A" for effort and artistic flare
"F" for horrible waste of money
I applaud the guy for making a pretty damn good looking replica. I wish he took the modification further into the interior also but I understand it might be much more difficult to replicate the interior. All & all it seems like a fun project to take on.

I know a few guys who do stuff like that just to have an on-going projectThat's a lot of work when you can just buy one if you need one that bad.
