As a long time GN'R fan I among many others waited... and waited, then waited some more, for the new "Chinese Democracy" album, and man... so disapointing, it started out awsome, in the first song (aka chinese democracy) the opening riff sounded so thunderous and powerful, after that, ZzZzZzZzZz, no where near the legend of appitite for distruction :(

I haven't listened to it, but I'm going into that experience expecting nothing.

I am not surprised...an album that took that long to come out usually means it was crappy to begin with. I stopped like GNR after "Lies" and I am sitcking to that.

You know, imo i think the reason is cuz all the songs where written in the late 80's to early-mid 90's and then Axl spent years taking those songs to over 10+ studios (litterally, all the studios are listed off, theres so many haha) but since the songs are so old, they have a very old feel to them, it was like Axl attempted to take the band in a new direction (see Madagascar, if you listen to it... awful) but it just comes off with an air of cheesyness, instead of the air of "kickass" i was hoping for haha

That makes me worry about Duke Nukem forever if it ever comes out.

Hey, STALKER ended up good... maybe the same rule doesn't apply to games.

I actually didnt mind it, me like other bands like Metallica, Im a fan, as in I like all there music, their more matal songs and their ballads, so I thought this CD was good. Why? The metal songs were horrible, nothing like their old metal songs, but the ballads were good, some very good, many just like their old ballads. So seeing how im a fan that liked all their music from the past, including the ballads, I liked this CD. I was suprised that I liked it, didnt think Axl could pull it of, but he did. He didnt need Slash like many say, I mean he was a decent guitarist but without Axl the band would have never gone anywhere.

I had expectations but I simply based it on the leaks I heard over the years. I wasn't expecting another Appetite or a UYI, because that's not what this is.

I loved the album.

Completely agree. Lies was great but the Illusion disks had maybe a quarter CD worth of good songs between the two. Spaghetti Incident was...just not good.

I might be willing to give Chinese Democracy a chance if Axl wasn't still using the GnR name. It's a completely different band. He's the only original member. Im not counting Gibby Clark cause he didn't come into the picture till Illusion.

EDIT: I think they lost it after Adler got too coked up and kicked from the band. He wasn't the greatest drummer but there was a lively sense that was never in the music after he left.

...If you listened to, like or even thought one GNR song was good, then youd know that the whole arguement that without Slash you have no GNR is wrong. Slash didnt make GNR, every song ever made by GNR you could replace Slash, his guitaring could be replaced, however GNR would have never been as big, popular or even around without Axls voice, no GNR song would be a GNR song without his voice, it unlike Slashs guitaring, couldnt be replaced.

The way I see it you need to take an album like this with no expectations in mind. If you go in expecting to hear the old style of Guns N Roses songs, then yeah disappointment will follow.

80's hair metal yes. What he is now would be merely an offshoot of that. I avoid listening to Bon Jovi myself. Meh.

It wasn't good.. ahh man... I like GNR too.. That's too bad, oh well I'll go to listening to all the classic stuff, like I always do. 60's 70's and 80's are better for music anyways!

It doesn't really surprise me... I cannot actually believe that some peoples were actually hoping it will not sux.

Seriously, Velvet Revolver was already a pieve of garbage so I was expecting the same with Axl GNR. It was nothing more than a business decision solely taken by corporatives who want you to buy the cd. I hope it sells like crap so they will never be able to make a damn penny with Chinese Democracy.

Guns N Roses were never hair metal. I don't know where you came up with that.

there first album was. although like i already said. it was hardly hair metal compared to other bands. it just came out at the sae time and they had the same style of clothing and hair as hair metal bands back then. they soon changed though
