Poor guy, kudos to him for being one of the 99% of people that age who could never achieve such a feat.

Man dies during triathlonin New York

A 64-year-old man died Sunday during the swim portion of Sunday's Nautica New York CityTriathlon, according to officials.

"We are deeply saddened to report the death," said a statement from Race Director Bill Burke.

The man was treated by emergency medical staff at the event site and then transported to Roosevelt Hospital.

A female athlete also suffered a medical problem during the swim event, but Burke's statement failed to specify the nature of the trouble. She was also treated by on-site medical staff and was also sent to Roosevelt Hospital, where she was in critical condition Sunday night.

The Nautical New York City Triathlon is an Olympic distance race, consisting of a 1,500-meter swim, a 40-kilometer bike ride and a 10-kilometer run, according to the event's website.

The swim portion of Sunday's event was held in the Hudson River, the biking portion was on Manhattan's West Side highway, and the run was in Central Park.

Sounds like the mob found a great time to dump the body. Just dress it up in a speedo and toss it in the river during a triathlon.

Sad, but it's not all that uncommon for someone to die during a large sporting event like a triathalon or marathon.

64 years old and running a triathlon. That's kinda impressive, but stuff like this is bound to happen at that age. Your body just begins to weaken despite your best efforts.

Wow, never thought of it that way. You should be a writer, but that would be funny if it were true. However realistically is sad for the loss.

Must have been new to triathlons, everyone knows the dead man's float isn't an effective stroke.

Actually my pun was the dead man's float part, not the stroke part. But I guess you can call it a double whammy then.
