Networks are demanding way too many viewers in a time when all people want to watch are reality shows. You get hooked onto a certain show and then a year later they rip it off the air leaving you with nothing but a giant cliffhanger. In other words, a giant middle finger from the network station...

Does anyone still watch network TV?

It seems most of the shows I watch live are on cable these days, seems to be a better environment for quality shows to last on there.

Then there's always Netflix and Hulu, for Chuck and the IT Crowd.

networks like reality shows cause they dont have to pay writers or actors. Look at shows like Seinfeld or MASH that were successful because of good writers, and compare that to reality shows like Jersey Shore, its like night and day.

I didn't say anything about me watching reality shows. Just based on ratings, it seems to be what everyone else watches.

I stopped watching tv somewhere around 5 years ago. Sure I watch a bit here and there, but not like I used to. I miss the old days when tv was actually worth watching.

join the party in fact i stopped in 2006 and you know since your show ended in a year that is nothing compared to

rugrats i started watching this in 1993 , it was a very successful show nickelodean had amoung the three other original shows nick had -which were ren and stimpy and ahh real monsters those got canned in i think 98 , along with other major shows -like cat dog are you afriad of the dark hey arnold all grown up -2006-2008the later was an extension to rugrats when they were teens

but any way rugrats was the best cartoon arguably for 20 yrs (92-2011 it reaired last yr in december and ended last month ) you know it had a 2 yr absense before 2010 , i was upset then i heard it was coming back so i set my alarm sure enough it came back i was like hey maybe they listened , but nope

its off again im very disappointed intodays tv only watch sports now such as nascar and wwe nfl hockey ,

tv has gone down hill and my favorite networks have also gone down hill lets see

i liked xplay when it first came out on g4 attack of the show cops-after a while that got boring on spike they had amazing police chases -- gone ,

cartoon networks earlier shows such as curage the cowardl.y dog power puff girls -gone ,,

disney i wasnt to much a fan of them but they did have mickey mouse and tiny toons in the mornings , thats gone

tbs had a show called chips -which dealt with 2 califronia highway patrols , flinstones and other cartoons after chips those are off the air now

and most importantly nickelodean -this was my top network easily tops them all , it had more then 5 shows i feel in love with there was nothing more i wanted to do then watch rugrats doug hey arnold wild and crazy kids all that cat dog double dare and double dare 2000 and legends of the hidden temple ren and stimpy salute your shorts clarissa explains it all ,ahh real monsters all grown up and ya my sister and i would just sit there watching these shows until about 2006 --when they shut off all of them except rugrats and all grown up , then which in 2007-8 ish they turned them off

you know its disapointing to see these shows on zune and having to spend money on them , its a smack in the face to all the fans just think of this in the 90s games were funner tv was great , and even music had talent ,

today

it pails in comparision ,,

whyu you ask just look at it ,

all reality shows and love shows fox news eh dismay , even on the movie channels all i ever find good is quantum of solace why is that what happened to speed the chase titanic scary movie 2 -thats on once and a while but still , all these good movies and shows

have not been on lately i got so mad at nickelodean i sent them a nasty email ,

im about to send them more because its messed up , kids have to sit here and watch spongebob 7 hours a day then get smacked in the face with adult shows like i carly or a show that doesnt make sense,

they already admited their ratings went down hill , i mean seriously , what the heck do they expect they arent half the network they were in the 90s

tv isnt what it was in the 90s ,

its hard to watch tv knowing hte show i once watched even past 18 yrs old gets the can ,

that was about the only good cartoon i could watch besides the older ones , you wanna know why , because it made sense

For those saying HBO, while it does have good shows, what is there to watch when their seasons are done? I don't think many people like every single one of their series, and when I had HBO for a month or so, I noticed that they just repeated mediocre movies (for the most part) over and over.

I have a TV tuner and have Windows Media Centre in windowed mode running a sitcom, news, cooking channels, a movie.I don't even really watch, I just kinda have it in a background running with the sound on. It's also something to focus on when loading takes too long.

LOL, TV is a joke these days, I don't watch anything anymore, I stopped watching TV constantly at the end of 2008 and I don't miss it, in 2011 I have yet to watch a damn show. Thank god for gaming(even though I'm not liking some of the directions it's going) and to some extent movies.

This.

Plus, with DVDs, BDs, streaming, download, and DVRs, easier now than it has ever been before to watch said content. Hell, I watch more TV shows than I ever did, thanks to DVR.

Otherwise, networks are canceling TV shows today for the same reasons they were cancelling them before anybody knew what the hell a reality show was: low ratings and/or high production cost.

Trust me, if a show is making them money, they will not cancel.

I stopped watching TV after shows like Cheers and Seinfeld ended.

I just watch them in reruns now - along with MASH and Gilligan's Island.

lol

I hate new TV shows. I just watch reruns for the rest of my life.

Well I can say I've already stopped. I gave up television for Lent, so far it's been very rewarding.
