I've been away too long

So long that I forgot how to embed videos :P

It's been dead for 3 years now, the rule change and the redesign killed a lot of the traffic.
Not to mention this place is very unwelcoming to anyone who is not a liberal as they are treated like dirt and mods allow them to get away with it.
I think it was the ugly site redesign a few years back. This forum used to be a lot friendlier to navigate. Easier on the eyes too. Gave users more freedom with their avatars and signatures. But they really loosened up the rules so that's nice.
When 2013 revamp GS came into play, Gamespot lost like 2, 3 million members. But guess what, the new generation like myself will bring OT back to it's former glory, you'll see.
That's a joke, right?
@davillain-: yeah, I remember that redesign.
Is Korvus still around?
He's back and starting to Moderate and post.

The site nearly died after the "update".
It was on life support, it was touch and go for a while but they've been trying different medications and a couple are working and she's slowing healing. It might take a bit of time to get beck to her former self but she'll get there hopefully.
@Kevlar101: I remember when a very new and somewhat annoying poster named Kevlar101 first came to OT. If I'm not mistaken, he had a Dark Side of the Moon avi, I think? Whatever happened to him?

Fixed it for you. Conservatives are welcome, it's just they're a [rightfully] dying breed, and being one comes with baggage.
Too many people got banned.
Too many inconsistent mods.
Irony is this site about 3 and a half years back, shortly after the big rule changes, went on a ban lifting spree and unbanned numerous users.

but it was too late, not many came back and some of those got banned again.
I was one of those people who got banned and let back in when the open the gate for a limited time.
Then I got perma-banned again not too long ago but then I remember I had still had this account that was unbanned years ago.
I 've been banned like 7 times. Only reason Im still here is because this was a banned account that got unbanned when they let people in but I had another one that I was using at the time so I used that one for a couple more years till that got banned.
So many bans...
Watch me get banned now for talking about this (Im already on my last strike so they are looking for a reason to banned me.)

And those that called for that rule lifting didn't like it and left. Irony indeed.
what annoys me the most is that users who said goodbye to us actually kept their words. people usually don't!

yeah, to this day you got 2 or 3 threads a months of somebody saying this place sucks and is boring so they are leaving.
Yeah, I just happened to check up on OT for the first time in a couple months or so and I'm kind of shocked (well, not entirely) at the inactivity. I used to be a pretty regular user and enjoyed most of the topics and the users creating them/posting in them but it's just not the same, nor will it ever be. I started lurking way back in 2003 and I've seen this forum go through many changes and have seen many users come and go through the years. To me, OT really seems dead and buried. It's a shame, I have many fond memories of this place...but as it usually goes all good things must come to an end eventually.
It seems much better than it was right after the redesign. I think though that a lot of forums are slowly dying out - for one thing, discussion is becoming centralised on bigger websites like 4chan and Reddit, as well as Twitter and Facebook. Is there anything attracting new people to these forums? Or are we all still here because of familiarity and the people we know? Here on GameSpot every article posted by the staff has a comments section attached, so people generally don't go to the forums to discuss the content posted. It feels to me as though these forums are completely separate from the editorial side of Gamespot and the staff members hardly come here. GameFAQs is doing better but that seems less active than it used to be as well. And its primary reason for existing is walkthroughs and such for games, which is being undermined by youtube videos and wiki sites.
I wasn't a fan of the GS redesign when it first happened, it made the site much slower and didn't work in Opera (my browser of choice at the time). It's still quite slow and I use the NoScript add-on, which means I need to manually allow scripts from each of the many different domains that GameSpot takes them from. The problem is that as far as I can see many of them don't seem to come from domains owned by CBSi and likely don't do anything that benefits me so I keep them blocked, but figuring out which ones I need to unblock to enable the functionality of the site is a pain.
That right there's a sign of what's speaking volumes at the current state of the internet these days, the fact 4 chan is one of the few forums around online these days, that houses the most traffic, just looks to be bad news, considering how much badness and infamy I hear about that place. I know I can't be alone in thinking that over the past decade, or 3/4 of a decade, the internet has been going through some changes, where I think there's sadly been more changes that aren't for the better, than changes that, well, actually are for the better.

Another thing I like to add. I actually been posting a lot on Google+ which I find posting over there way more fluid and has tones of community stuff to talk about like Anime, movies, games all on there own community and the funny part is, I'm kinda popular over there cause I post a lot of Anime pics and bringing cool discussion just about everyday. Having said that, Google+ is getting way more popular by the day but that doesn't mean I'm leaving GS, I love this place. OT has lost a lot of members who wasn't a fan of the changes and I can see why. It's also sadder that System Wars is the only active forum in all GS, seriously how the hell is SW getting more traffic and not OT? OT is the only forum video game free and it's not popular, that's sad that SW is and not OT.
