[QUOTE="Account_27"]I love Man vs Wild. It's such a great show.DarkKar
Agreed. Friday just can't get here fast enough.
Double agreed...I like survivor man more than man vs wild.Les Stroud doesn't get a camera crew and he seems sane where as Bear Grylls is like 'ok this water is 1 degree above freezing and you need to be careful when on ice....*jumps in* Now, hopefully I wont DIE and I can show you the proper way to get out'.Good show but sometimes I cant help but wonder WTF that guy is thinking, he's like the Steve Irwin of survivalists :P.Really, if I fall into freezing arctic water I'll just accept it and die since i was dumb enough to fall in.Ive never heard of freestuff so uh.....yeah
On another note......WHOO 3000th post!

I like survivorman. But Man vs Wild is much better. Survivorman is a, okay lets sit here and wait for help, dont get into danger show. Man vs Wild is, lets no sit around, lets get the hell out of here, and he shows people how to survivor life threatening situations like if you fell into the water or got stuck in quick sand. I hate when people talk bad about the Grylls guy. They think hes crazy cuase he eats fish raw even if he has a fire.Well yeah, hes trying to show you, if you didnt have a fire you could eat it raw. And they say he waste energy doing the ice and quicksand stuff. Well i say wasteing energy and time is setting up a camera, walking away from it, walking all the way back to get it, and then walk away again. The fact that Grylls has a crew gives Bear more of a chance of focusing on survivng, not getting a good shoot with the camera. Wanna learn to survive in one place for 7 days, watch survivor man. wanna learn to survive and get out alive by yourself watch man vs wild.
I understand that he is using examples to possibly save your life etc.... which granted is fun to watch and informative but I don't find it too...uh safe (most of the time).Yeah you can do what Bear Grylls does but you can also die in the process, yeah it teaches you how to do extreme survival stuff but I highly doubt that it is 100% effective when there is no camera crew to save your ass and generally when people are lost, the 1 st rule is to stay put or at least not go wandering too far off.Survivor-man is a slightly more reasonable approach to survival IMO because if I get lost in the wilderness I'm not going to go climbing flimsy trees or rock climbing on a 90 degree rock face :P which may further increase my chances of dying.I guess if you already are a really skilled climber or w/e then the stuff Bear does would be useful but for Joe blow who got lost on a hiking trail I don't think it's the best tactic.
I don't hate Bear Grylls, I just think some of his survival stuff may be a little much. Some of it is really useful (finding food, medicinal plants, building stuff, the basics...etc) but other stuff I would never consider doing because it is more risk than it's worth (white water rafting on a flimsy raft, messing with poisonous snakes, trying to ride wild hoses...etc.) If I was in the wilderness for a while and there was no chance I would be found then yeah I'd run out of there Bear Grylls style definitely but not if there's still a chance I can be found.Bear Grylls = last resort (most of the time) IMO.Besides, out of all the people who watch the show, how many are really going to get lost in a forest or something? Most people that watch the show watch it for entertainment purposes, not because they are going to the amazon any time soon :).
Not a bad show but I would prefer to play it safe if I was lost
