how the hell is marriage a public declaration? cause they have rings to indicate that they are married? if so then gays can just do that, gays can hold hands in public to show the whole world their love for eachother, gays can spend their whole lives together and die happy.

im against marriage all together but i cant help but feel that the only reason GLAAD fought for marriage was the sole fact that straight people got them too.

the people that are against it think that marriage should be between a man and a woman. but in reality the religious connotations of marriage have been thrown out for centuries now. its just a way to earn tax breaks.

I don't really see what the fuss is about it beyond the fact that it goes against some archaic religious texts.

It's not sacred if you don't get married in a church, and remarriage is allowed, which many churches aren't happy about (eg catholics).

i just dont understand the whole problem behind gay marriage....it's such an easy fix....give gay people the right to be given the same rights and advantages of a marriage contract that straight people have...but give churches the right to turn gay people down for an actual religious ceremony, because if they deem it wrong they should not be forced to give them the ceremony....i just dont see the argumentjohnnyv2003

I'm all for gay marrige the only people who argue againts gay marriges are religous people. ( atlest that's what I have seen.)

I honestly don't understand why anyone gives two shakes about whether or not two other strangers gay or straight) get married.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe some straight people feel like a gay marriage undermines the sanctity of their own marriage. Frankly, I think that's pretty ridiculous.

As with most of the bible the minor mentions of homosexuality are very vague. I have 4 gay friends, 1 couple has been together for over 20 years the other about 15. Now they pay taxes just my wife and I do and deserve equal treatment in the 21st century. Anytime this argument comes up people always leave out the parts of the bible that we have deemed barbaric, but not this one. Insane and completly unfair. Government and laws should not be run on a 2000 year old book written when the world was flat and it was a "sin" and crime to say the earth revolved around the sun.

Yeah... what? I think he misunderstood what I was saying. What I was saying was Gay or Straight, marriage is wack. Like everyone else already stated, marriage is no longer sacred now that it has been basically commercialized. People only marry for the extra tax benefits.

I don't think so but alot of christians do. I'm agnostic myself.
