Batman is the best superhero with the best stories but Marvel has way more interesting characters than DC so I guess Marvel.
DC, but only because they have the best villains imo.
Marvel's villains are good, dont get me wrong, but they generally seem to simply be psycopaths lusting after power.
In DC, theyre more likely to be convinced that theyre doing the right thing, just by the wrong means.
The exception, of course, being Magneto...he is an awesome villain.
Marvel, No contest. They have the best thought out super heros with the best super powers. DC just seems to be a bunch of ordinary (or psychopathic) people in fancy costumes; Batman, The Joker, for example. SpeccsOpsI prefer a little bit more reality....Marvel is mostly genetic experiments. Meh....

If you wanted realistic heroes and villains, surely you'd watch Police Academy or some crap? Marvel are there to entertain, and make you MARVEL at their ideas, and so their characters are genetically engineered super douches. Whereas DC just seems to be a load of headstrong bad guys running around in latex.

dc, both in film (solely because of batman) and in comics (i think dc has tons of interesting characters, while marvel just seems to be full of x-men, the avengers, and spider-man).
In terms of comics
since New 52 and Marvel Now launched. i'm basically with DC (Batman, Aquaman, Batwing, little bit of Catwoman, Wonder Woman, and Superman). only following Avengers and Iron Man for the Marvel Now.
historically? Marvel
------------
television cartoon series? DC
made for DVD? DC HANDS DOWN
Movies? Marvel with exception to Batman.
but where i'd give Dark Knight Trilogy movies an A, i'd give most of the Marvel's B's.
-------------------
various memorabilia? DC, though I have a sweet Iron Man mini-statue and an Iron Man T-shirt (just has his picture of his powercell on it in the center).
---------------------
Favorite Heroes?
Batman and Iron Man
also historically, Spider-Man and Moon Knight.
recent favorites Batwing and Aquaman (from the new 52).
Marvel by a long shot. Really, DC only has Batman going for it, the rest of their hero's are varying degrees of lame. I find the marvel hero's ted to be more interesting. Also, most of the main DC hero's end up being way overpowered. Superman, Wonder Woman and The Green Lantern are all but indestructable, which kind of takes away from their appeal for me.
Easily Marvel. Other than Superman, DC doesn't have much of interest.dagreenfishAdmittedly, they have Batman, but even he is just a cave fanatic, who can throw sharp objects reasonably fast and looks good in latex (no homo The only defense DC have is that they have the better characters historically, but Marvel just really have no competition in their recent characters.
Marvel by a long shot as growing up as to me their heroes always felt more relatable and had a bit more depth to them.
Agree.Batman is the best superhero with the best stories but Marvel has way more interesting characters than DC so I guess Marvel.

a comic friend said it aptly to me the difference between the two.
the heroes of DC are mostly gods who play as men/women.
the heroes of Marvel are mostly men and women who play as though they were gods.
that's the difference i think.
SaudiFury
not a great analogy.

how so? a lot of the main notable DC heroes are basically gods in one form or another. Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash, even Martian Manhunter. look to the major Marvel heroes, and they are all limited in some real way, you could conceivably kill Spider-Man even when he has mutant powers, just as you could conceivably kill Batman who'se just a well trained man with gadgets. Iron Man is nothing more then a man in a suit. The only famous god-like heroes Marvel has that everyone knows of is Hulk (and even then, man who was given his powers not born with them), and Thor who is a literal god.Marvel by a long shot. OVERPOWERED?!
Sentry, Wolverine, Hulk, Thor, yeah Marvel doesn't overpowered heroes, and neither does DC. They are freakin SUPERheroes, I don't get this OVERPOWERED nonsense when talking about superheroes, honestly. And look at the villians that people like Supes, WW, and GL face, I mean, really? Yeah, they are very powerful, but so are the villains they face.

Agree. Thirded. It's good to know that you know nothing about DC.... Superman isn't indestructible these days... Not even in DC AU: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVzGyqSbGewMarvel by a long shot. Latex? wtf are you talking about?
Batman wears armor, not a condom (unless he's getting down with Catwoman or Wonder Woman)

As to the topic, I'm guessing to most people the question shouldn't be Marvel vs. DC, it's Marvel vs. Batman. And Batman is Batman, so Batman wins.
Â
If you want to break it down here it is:
TV: DC wins hands down (And I don't see how even the biggest Marvel fanboy could say otherwise)
Animation: DC hands down (See above)
Comics: I guess it's a toss up depending on how much you like the New 52, but me personally I think DC has better characters overall so I'd say DC.
Movies: Well there's no disputing Marvel has the edge on quantity, but The Dark Knight Trilogy is better than anything Marvel has put out and Man of Steel was pretty awesome too, so I'd say this is more of a draw.
I grew up watching Batman and the Justice League, so DC back then, but now it kind of equal. TV/Movies wise, Marvel wins live action even through the Nolan's Batman is great while DC wins animated. Comic wise I had more so read DC, but I likea bit of Marvel stuff too, and I just gotten into Guardians of the Galaxy which I liking a lot.
