YOUR AGE BY DINER & RESTAURANT MATH

This is pretty neat

DON'T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST!

It takes less than a minute. Work this out as you read.

Be sure you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out!

This is not one of those waste of time things, it's fun.

1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to
go out to eat.
(more than once but less than 10)

2. Multiply this number by 2

3. Add 5

4. Multiply it by 50

5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1758...
If you haven't, add 1757.

6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.

You should have a three digit number

The first digit of this was your original number. (i.e., How many times
you want to go out to restaurants in a week.)

The next two numbers are

YOUR AGE ! ------ (Oh YES, it is!)

THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2008) IT WILL EVER WORK

Wow, it's amazing that this trick could somehow tell how old we are, and all we had to do was give our year of birth. Simply amazing.

Yeah, now I see how it works. (2x+5)*50 + 1758 = 100x + 2008(!!!). Reduce that by the year you were born (let's say for sake of argument 2000), you get 100x + 8. 8 years old? What are the chances... For it to work in 2009 you'll just need to add 1758 if you hadn't had a birthday or 1759 if you have. The restaurant thing is a red-herring, it has no real bearing on the outcome.

I was emailed this the other day. It worked, unsurprisingly. The number of times you eat out really does not do anything. Most of you probably figured it out already.

At least it didn't ask for our age directly, that would be just insulting.

It did, though.

I mean, asking what year you were born is asking your age. Because it divides those who have had a bday and those who have not by one number.

Pick a number between 1 and 10, subtract it by 3 and then add 3, you should end up with the same number! :o

Better yet. Pick a number, then put your age after it.

That's your age, with the number in front of it! Magic!

Even more amazing: pick a number, ANY number, write it down...

Is the number written down the one you chose? If it is, give me a thousand -put your country's currency here-.

weffer

2*2 = 4

4+5 = 9

9*50 =450

1757+450 (assumeing you have not had your birthday)= 2,207

2207- 1987= 220

You didn't do as I instructed. As punishment, you must dance around like a chicken as you go and give yourself up to the authorities for up to 5 seconds jail-time.

Didn't work for me. In fact, the number I ended up with was -35 (yes I did do everything right).EJ902

What year were you born and what number did you pick?. Everything should work. The last number before you subtract is just 2007 or 2008 with 200-900 years added.

Didn't quite work for me, I ended up with 215, not 216. Still, it was only one off. Good enough I guess. First time around I ended up with -35, though I'd forgotten to do step 3 as it transpired.
