Before I start the thread, I just want to say this: I like McDonalds. I will probably go eat there not too long from now. It's delicious.

I saw that movie Supersize Me, and I heard alot of interesting facts about McDonalds and obesity in America. Here are some things you may or may not know:

(This movie was made in 2003. So I don't know if the facts have changed much since then)
1/4 people in Mississippi are obese

1 ounce of McNugget has double the fat than 1 ounce of a McDonalds Burger

72% of McDonalds customers eat there once a week. 22% eat there more than 3 times a week

In Manhattan, there are 84 McDonalds. More than double the amount of Wendy's, Taco Bell's and KFC combined

Since the '80s, Obesity has doubled in adults, and tripled in children

Over 10% of children ages 2-10 are overweight

A New York woman who was born and lived most of her life in France was interviewed by a man named Morgan:

Morgan: Do you eat at McDonalds?

French Woman: In France, yes. In America, no.

Morgan: Why not here?

French Woman: In America, a small coke/fries/etc. is what's considered the Large size in France

A Man did an expirement and only ate McDonalds (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) for 30 days. He gained 25 pounds in those 30 days
Sorry if you have heard most of those....

"Super-Size Me" was a great documentary. Pretty damn funny in parts too, but very disturbing in others.

The guy who did the movie "Supersize Me" did a test with how long it takes to decay McDonalds' food, versus home-made food. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEM0T1Ar5Qo Eye-opening...for some.

I try to stay away from fast food in general.

Food taste so much better when you cook it yourself.

It was purple, go figure . I never ever in my 18-year-long-life seen somebody puke purple stuff up.

Outside of being a demonstration to what happens to you when you die, the molding video seemed pointless. Food doesn't sit in your stomach till it molds, we have some rather strong stomach acids to break them down. It is interesting to see that the French Fries don't mold quickly at all, but if I think back to stone cold French Fries I've had they have a tendency to lose moisture quickly and this is probably why they look the same.

Smaller surface area + less moisture+tendency to be cooked to crisp make for something thats much harder to mold.

I only eat their fries about once a month.  I don't eat meat.  When  I did eat meat, their food certainly was delicious.

The rate at which something molds holds no relationship to your digestive tract. The French Fries aren't exhibiting anything more unusual than dry goods. It only takes a couple of days for the stomach acids to completely break apart food for absorption.

That was really hard to watch after 4-5 weeks.
