Although the album its based on is mediocre, this documentary is up there with the greatest ever made imo. What do you guys think?

Is that the making of St. Anger + album performance?

It was sad seeing a band in that state. They were like pitiful little babies. Kirk got boned.

Yeah he did. He was absolutely right when he said no solos would make them songs of a moment instead of being timeless.

Some people do not like it. But as a mod I hereby declare "Darth Caedus" is the first voice of metal.

I loathe the album and every other Metallica album that was released after ...AJFA too, but I loved this documentary. It was interesting to see how the song writing process went.

Didn't Kirk complain about the band's choice to have therapy (or whatever it was), saying that they were "supposed to be a rock n roll band"? Therapy isn't within the spirit of rock n roll at all. Then again, neither was the napster controversy... or the latter half of their albums...

"I loathe the album and every other Metallica album that was released after ...AJFA too"

...And Justice For All was the peak of Metallica's greatness.

I'd go further than that.I'd say Ride The Lightning was their peak of greatness. Not even Master of Puppets beats RTL.

I have it on DVD and seen it many times. Very interesting stuff. I imagine only Metallica fans would care. The Dave Mustaine interview was worth it alone.

WHY ARE YOU NOT IN POSTING IN THE UNION?!? I fell asleep trying to watch this. I got to Lars talking about his lame art and then James dressed like a total douchebag while recording the album.

My word you're an idiot. They are human beings ffs, they all well into their 40s! Give them a freaking break. You didn't possibly except them to keep up the same macho thrash metal style for the rest of their musical careers?

I thought it made them seem like whiners and complainers. HillyBilly
They *are* whiners and complainers...they also sue 12 year olds. Face it, Metallica is a boy band, they put out "angry" music, but they are just another spoiled backstreet boys style boy band, forced down our throats by record companies who hate us. (Yes, I do get that they were around before backstreet boys, so, maybe they were one of the original boy bands?)
