Michael Bay Writes To Theater Projectionists -- & Writes To Fans: "See This Movie In 3D"

UPDATE:Michael Bay's personal blog is filled with photos of himself from the worldwide premieres like the one above... Egads. He writes this to fans today:

Thank You Note From Michael Bay
06/26/2011

I just want to take the opportunity to thank all the fans around the world for letting me have fun with the Transformers franchise. It has been a wonderful opportunity to have worked with about 4000 crew members around the world. These artists are some of the very best in the entire film business. I'm honored to have had you work along side me. We had an amazing time.

'Dark of the Moon' has some of the most technically challenging sequences ever shot. And shot in 3D.I must urge you to find the very best theatre and see this movie in that format. 3D was a forethought, not an afterthought in this movie. I'm glad Jim Cameron and Steven Spielberg really convinced me to shoot in this new technology. We used and invented many new techniques to make the 3D sharper, brighter and more color contrast. I think theatre owners heard their audience that they need to respect the specs of the projectors and not dim the bulbs to save money.

Many theaters are presenting it in the brand new 7.1 sound, which is awesome. This is the most complex, intricate sound track that me and my Academy Awarding winning sound team have done. They really out did themselves to make this a big picture experience. Hopefully you will have as much fun watching this movie as we all had making it.

Thanks,
Michael Bay

---
Michael Bay now writes to projectionistsafterhe'd already called the chief executives of major theater chains to implore them to showTransformers: Dark Of The Moonin a way that burns out projector bulbs more quickly but makes 3D look brighter and sharper.Talk about being pushy: you'd think there was a lot riding onTransformers 3.Paramount Making Too Many 3D Demands?

Knowing it was shot in full 3D, I'm going to go see it in full 3D. Transformers would be a perfect movie to see in 3D.

Translation : "We only spent time and effort on making the most intense and gigantic explosions we could. Please display my film in the best possible way so as to distract the people who just paid $20 for an IMAX ticket in hopes that they don't notice how bad the movie is and are instead wow'd at the 3D'ness of the film.

For some reason I think you may have lost the reason why we see movies in the first place...

I've found all of the Transformers movies to be extremely entertaining even though they are quite bad. Still nothing replaces the awesomeness of watching giant robots blow things up for 2 hours.

Let's use the movie to distract them from the movie!

Steven Segal is a horrible actor. the 3rd Transformers movie is going to blow him up just to show how awesome the explosions are. yeah the story in the first movie was decent and the story in the second movie was horrible, but the action sequences more then make up for the lame story.

No thanks, 3D gives me a headache. 2D is fine imo (and cheaper to boot).

Maybe it is just that he isn't entertained by the Transformers films? I know I'm not. While watching the first one I was bored out of my mind. That has nothing to do with "losing the reason we see movies in the first place."

I don't watch movies in 3D unless it's actually shot in 3D during production. So this is good news.

except it wasnt watch giant robots blow things up for 2 hours thats what i want from transformers thats all transformers fans ever want is blowing **** up and awesome one liners and character development of the auto bots and the decepticons... no what the transformers movies are(mostly the second one but the first share these problems as well) is backwards ass ****ing stupid jokes that involve sex, some sort of fart or poop/pee joke, racism or a mixture of all three on top of the movie focusing atleast 50% of its screen time on the humans which we dont give a **** about the relationshi* between the two main charecters which end up not even mattering. And plot and maturity that is outclassed and shamed by transformers THE movie... its sad the makers of the transformers the animated movie knew that this stupid **** was gonna happen so they called it THE MOVIE

I could have sworn at some point in the past I read a review where Michael Bay expressed his dislike of 3D and insisted that Transformers 3 definitely wouldn't use it...

No. Some of the time it's robots blowing stuff up and too much of the time it is meaningless human garbage. If they are going to spend as much as hey do on these films, they could stand to hire some decent writers.

He should subsidize each person for the extra costs of watching a 3D movie nowadays if he wants them to go see it so bad :P

until it's the highest grossing movie of the summer. Then they will just hire more models and throw out another trilogy and Michael Bay will be richer than every single one of the people who have gone to see his garbage movies combined. The world is just so perfect.

I don't see why anyone likes 3D regardless of it being shot with actual 3D equipment. It's awful either way, and a sad gimmick.

Well if the 3D is anything like I saw in the trailer (while waiting for another movie to start) then the 3D will not actually be a throw away (crap). Don't know about the movie though

He was actually quoted as saying this is his last one. Despite raking in huge bank, I think he's done with the franchise after this, at least directing them anyway. He's did three movies in a row, and he's probably itching to do something different, or at least take a break for awhile.

No thanks.. The first thing that has come out of the actors and the Director's mouth about the movie is the over the top action cgi has shown that they have not learned from the second movie what so ever.

Man, there's something about CGI-action that just doesn't tickle my fancy. There's something cold, lifeless, and dull about all of it. Pretty much the same way I'd describe all of the Transformers movies
