This is probably a result of you not getting out much, but you probably haven't noticed the demographics of people walking around the late-night venues. Or, perhaps, noticing every major entertainment industry that's putting a renewed emphasis on higher-class experiences? Bowling alleys, arcades, movie theaters, entire districts "main streets" devoted to nothing but restaurants, bakeries, shopping, etc. Trust me when I say that not doing this stuff in your 20's means nothing. Literally, nothing. Most of the people taking advantage of those destinations (or are demanding the quality of typical entertainment be upgraded) are in their 30's.Â
I can tell you from experience that Brunswick Zone, typically known for kids birthday parties and skee-ball, has remodeled many of their locations to attract the late 20's, 30's crowd. I just helped my firm, known for commercial/entertainment, design the prototype for their flagship location. The lanes are split down the middle by a raised bar that goes all the way back to the setters. Hard wood flooring, leather couches/recliners, darker tones/lighting, designated smoking lanes, sit-down restaurants with coffered ceilings, etc. No arcade. Same goes for Red Robins, Smash Burger, Chick-Fil-A, frozen yogurt boutiques, etc.Â
Entire industries are realizing they need to cater to a more "sophisticated" crowd. By "sophisticated" I mean less children, or no children, with a little extra disposable income. Yes, the economy is pretty stagnant but that means everything I just explained makes more sense. People want to spend what little extra money they have on entertainment that isn't punctured by the wailing of screaming children, dirty and smoke-filled venues, and shitty food.
So don't worry. The 30's, in this generation, will be the best part of your life. Look forward to it.
