I read an article this week in the local news where a reporter was discussing how our millitary guys are getting over paid. Saddly enough I discovered soon after that many people feel that way about the situation.
How is it possible that people could be that ignorant?
When I enlisted, I was a Multimedia Illustrator. I did not finish my training due to medical reasons, however my starting pay was at about $60 for 2 days of drill. Not that bad after insurance and all that. I've a friend however in the Air Force that basically does Traffic control. He doesn't get paid much more than I was getting paid per muta (a muta is a pay cycle). My friend is a Combat Engineer. He gets paid about $200 a month. I've another friend that is a Medic. He doesn't get paid all that much more per month. Engineer jobs in the civilian world pay MUCH higher than that weekly if I'm not mistaken. Doctors have a rediculously high income compaired to my medic friend and they don't even work in high risk areas on a normal basis. I'm sure said reporter that wrote that article has a much higher income than our Combat reporters are getting paid in the Army Guard. If someone can actually make sense on how anyone can feel that our millitary is being overpaid, please enlighten me because at the moment, I really don't see how she could have possibly come to that conclusion.
