Im interested in this greatly. What do you folks think?

A great find, no doubt. Im not certain what kind of debate this will cause religiously but Im sure it will be heated.
So science is winning.solid_marioThat war is end-less. It's already been said above me, but people will now ask for a transitional species between Ida and humans, and a transitional phase between monkeys and Ida before they'll call this proof. And when that is done (IF it's ever done) they'll ask for more transitional species or missing links.
Sweet. Maybe evolution can now pass from being a SCIENTIFIC theory to a SCIENTIFIC law.HereticGamer911
That will never happen. A scientific law is something that merely describes a phenomenon that has been observed in nature. A scientific theory is something that is even greater: it is an explanation that accounts for many, many observations in nature, and which provides predictions which may be falsified.
Contrary to popular belief, there is nothing above "theory" in science.
I did a bit more digging around the net, and came across the Public Library Of Science website. There's a full page journal with x-rays of the discovery.

I call shenanigans! :P
And nothing will ever stop the debate. As far as we Christians are concerned God can be neither proved nor disproved. Anything science claims to find is non consequential to me.

So science is winning.solid_marioscience is winning what? Science is merely man's understanding of the universe. :|

Unless you can invent a time machine and go into the past and watch everything evolve, I won't believe it. You guys put alot of FAITH in your Theory of Evolution. Just like I put alot of FAITH in my religion.

Faith? The Theory of Evolution has far more...far more evidence to back it then religion/god.[QUOTE="Engrish_Major"]

Let's not go into the differences between 'faith' in science and actual faith, which is what religion is. You don't happen to use cell phones, watch TV or use a computer, drive, fly, use electricity, use medicine and go to the doctor, do you? That way, it is easy for you to denounce science and not look like a fool...[QUOTE="howlrunner13"][QUOTE="Engrish_Major"]

You can't change my mind and I can't change yours, so I'm not going to get into an argument with you. Calling me a fool sure was mature of you too.
i thought this was some joke, like "404-found" or something dumb like that.
i 'spect they'll just say "but ther is still no solid evidence of prim8 to hyumahn link"
I need to see a picture. What scientists might consider a missing link, laypeople might consider just another monkey.guynamedbilly
I sure as hell would prefer to trust a scientist to determine that instead of a regular person. And I believe this is the picture.
This was originally posted on National Geographic. This is not a missing link in between chimps and humans. It is a missing link between whatever came before chimps and primates to primates. It is a step closer for those people that doubt evolution however, if I know their thinking well, they will merely say it is 'microevolution' and dismiss it as atheist propoganda.
Interesting stuff!! I dont really have a complete understanding of such things, but i'll take you word for it, MISTER SCIENTIST...
Watch it just be some freakish mutant or something, and everyone will get all worked up over nothing.
And actually if you look in wikipedia under 'Timeline of Human Evolution' you'll see this missing link is the link in between prosimians or primitive primates that ate mostly bugs and such and simians or more advanced primates.
What I don't understand is that why can't religion and science work together. I know God said he made Adam and Eve but it never said they were early primates or such.MgamerBDI can't imagine communion or seances making many scientific breakthroughs.

Well isn't it natural for a human to want to explore and discover. Stuff like religion never stopped us before. I'm sure a person can have a religion and be a scientist.

I used to hold this view for many years. You're basically describing Stephen J. Gould's notion of "Magisteria" that are compatible. The problem with this is that religion makes existential claims, which are thus scientific claims, that are totally incompatible with scientific notions.
