first off i dont want any one to talk bad about him this is purely on discussing whether he was a rock legend or an American hero

no ive been hearing stuff on the radio about people calling him an american hero, now we got to get things straight a soldier is an american hero, a singer is no were close to that category

what are your thoughts is he a hero or a legend

edited: changed rock into pop, but i cant change the poll. :P

You kind of have to be rock in order to be a rock legend...so a pop artist like MJ is kinda out of that...

Indeed, I hope that decree passes in congress naming Michael the first Icon. I think his birthday should also be Michael Jackson day (August 19th)

Pop legend, someone like Abraham Lincoln is an 'American Hero'. I don't even like America, but calling MJ an American Hero is insulting.

he's a pop singer gone white gone rapist. he was extremely popular, and probly was the best pop singer, but thats not saying much. i dont and didnt care that he died. 5 minutes before he died everyone thought he was a freak, and when they heard he died all of a sudden he's a god

A what now? Now that he's dead maybe, for years he was the laughing stock of the entertainment world. I find the sudden praise for dead people pretty annoying, especially when they received no such attention while they were alive. That's not personally directed at you, of course, for all I know you were always his biggest fan. I'm speaking in general.

How, he as a philanthropist, he broke the color barrier in so many ways, shattered racial division in the music business and pop culture in general and he made hundreds of millions do the moonwalk and he was a world icon. For Americans to not acknowledge him would be ignoring him. He put American culture on the map.

There is absolutely no way he was an American hero.

Pop legend no doubt.

Those people deserve to be slapped but if you noticed the biggest outpour of support is coming from minorities, Europe, and Asia. These people never cared about much besides the music and these communities are well known for supporting him through the trials.
