Greetings denizens of Gamespot, and welcome back to the next instalment of what's to be an ongoing exploration into the strangest and darkest reaches of the internet ? the mind of a moderator.
Important to note that this is not just an Off Topic thing, but a Q&A that encompasses all of Gamespot, with mods from across the boards and where all users are welcome to participate. There are sticky notifications in all the major discussion boards (General Gaming Discussion and System Wars) So you'll interact with the mods you're familiar with and get to know the others from different parts of the forums.
Oh you might think the life of a moderator is all champagne and caviar, fame & fortune, and prestige beyond measure. But let me assure you fine folks that nothing could be farther from the truth. For one thing we don't even get paid for what we do :P So now peer beneath the veil as you get to find out what makes us tick.Each week (from Wed-Wed), one of us will assume the Hot Seat and take questions from you, the life blood of this community. Oh sure you could ask us what our favourite food is, or movie, or actor, or get our opinions on gaming. But why stop there? Want to know what super power we would choose if we could possess one? Where we would go if we could travel in time? Who we think would win in a fight between Wolverine and Sonic the Hedgehog?
Be inventive. Be imaginative. By all means push us to the brink of our sanity :twisted: And while some playful ribbing is permitted here (even encouraged ;) ), don't get outright offensive or insulting. TOU rules still apply. But also let me emphasise although you can ask about our experiences as a mod, this isn't about moderation inquiries, or a supplement to Ask the Mods. Also mods will reserve the right not to answer a question if it gets too personal.Think of it more like we're all just chillin' at a bar, getting to know each other in conversation and just having fun. Take it as a social experience.

Everything!:P It's an escape. I wrote a blog about it once, I think. Better immortal, Duncan McCloud or Connor McCloud? Justify! Duncan. Connor has a couple of movies, Duncan got a whole TV series, and he is friends with Methos. Also, he is much sexier. You are offered your choice between a $2K various gemstone ring or $2K worth of PC parts. Pick one. Caveat is that your husband will sometimes view porn on the PC if you go that route. Is this a serious question? How many times have I told you that if you want to buy me something small, expensive, and shiny, buy me a new CPU? Best Bioware RPG of all time? Justify. Knights of the Old Republic, for the NPCs, the different planetary environments, the very different story branches depending on whether you are Light or Dark, and for having one of the best "WTF???... oh wait, that make total sense!" moments in gaming. You have an opportunity to smother the baby Hitler in his cradle with a pillow with a happy unicorn on it, do you do so? Of course not. I take the baby, and then take steps to make sure he is raised in a home where he will not be physically and emotionally abused, but instead is allowed and encouraged to pursue his dream of becoming a painter. Oh, and he would not be allowed to enroll in the army to serve in World War I. Whatever made Adolf Hitler go on a mass-genocidal world war rampage was not in his DNA, and nurture practically always beats nature. Did Bill Clinton REALLY bone Elizabeth Gracen? If he managed it, is this proof that he has honest-to-god magical powers? I have no idea. As Ms Gracen said when she was asked, it's none of our business who she chooses to sleep with. A terrorist is pointing a gun at your head and you're forced to strangle one member of my immediate family. Who do you choose and why? (I promise not to tell them.) No. I will not live with that on my conscience. You want one of them dead, you do it. (And while you are distracted trying to kill them, I'll do my best to kill you back. No one hurts my family.) Can I have a SMALL harem? You have a small harem already. Me. ;)
