Yeah best film of the year thus far and Wes Anderson's best, easily. I don't see anything topping it for me.
For me, I think 'Beasts of the Southern Wild" might replace it next week.Yeah best film of the year thus far and Wes Anderson's best, easily. I don't see anything topping it for me.

You don't think the Hobbit or Dark Knight can top it?In terms of theatre experiences, sure. Overall films? Don't know. The Lord of the Rings trilogy is one of my favourite films of all-time but those were 10+ years ago and I'm not sure PJ even has that skill left in him.[QUOTE="Aljosa23"]

As for Dark Knight Rises, I'm a big reader of Batman comics but I haven't been jumping for joy for the Nolan movies. They're just "okay" to me in the sense that I only watch them once and never have the desire to ever again.

Films that might end up being better:
Gravity
The Grandmasters
The Master
Django Unchained
No trailers
Stoker
The End

Haven't really seen many movies from this year so I cannot really compare.
But Moonrise Kingdom was really a good film.

Too bad it was delayed until 2013.You'll love it.The only negative review I've read stated that its not "Wes Anderson-y" enough. That's high praise bro
Seeing it Saturday. I'm psyched. sammyjenkis898
I have a feeling you're going to be majorly disappointed in it.
Also Saint when are you seeing Safety Not Guaranteed? Gonna see it friday.
Feel pretty much the same way. I've hated just about everything he's done since Rushmore, personally. I'll probably rent it when it's in Redbox though.Considering who directed it I'm guessing I would hate it. I probably won't even bother seeing it.

If the showtimes workout, I plan to see 'Beasts of the Southern Wilds' and 'Safety Not Guaranteed' next friday for a nice little double feature.

This has me semi-intrigued. Still very skeptical though
You'd enjoy it, at least. It's a really great film with a godlike soundtrack.no indie rock or bob dylan thankfully

Seeing how I loved his previous feature and I hear this one has more heart than anything he has done, I doubt it.

I thought Royal Tenenbaums had more heart than Moonrise:?
Also you've never struck me as a fan of films that are both quirky and silly. Not to mention you dislike all coming of age films that don't have subtitles :P

DharmaMember77
The Darjeeling Limited had more heart than Tenenbaums.
Sounds like it caters to my taste. At least it's something. This has been a lackluster year for film.

Maybe. OP said it's similar to Fantastic Mr Fox which is another plus, that's the only Wes Anderson movie I like. At least this thread convinced me to go from "never want to watch it" to "I'll see it eventually"[QUOTE="DharmaMember77"]

Well when you've only gone to the movies three times this year it's no wonder you feel this way.

Other than Bill Murray, Gene Hackman and Angelica Huston are the most talented actors/actresses to appear in a Wes Anderson flick.
