Why people drive in the rain without lights on? This morning, and all day it been raining, I drive, and noticed a lot of people don't have any lights on... For god's sake it's raining people!!! I doubt if they got brains or not... Anyway, this morning I was driving on the dual carriageway, and there was full of sprays. I was about to overtake a lorry, and I looked at the mirror before I pull up and noticed something which is a car without lights. I could have crashed into him because I found it difficult to see no light cars in the spray. If I crashed into him, that's all his fault for not having the lights on because I can't see him.

I think cars shouldn't allow people to control the lights because they don't know what it's for. Light should always be on when they switch the keys, like most American cars and motorbikes, they have no light control, it always on.

I think most people think light are only for nights. WRONG!!

Oh right, in America you guys don't have daytime running lights... I'm still wondering why you don't. The numbers don't lie-- they actually prevent accidents. Even during the day.

I think you have to have your lights on if it's raining in New Jersey (I'm not sure though).

No, a crash like that would've definitely been your fault. Yes, he should've had his lights on, but YOU would have been the one cited for reckless driving.

During daylight, lights don't make much of a difference on cars, but they do on bikes, I've noticed while on mine.

I always have my lights on when it's raining, I think it's dumb when some people drive with their lights on when it's really sunny outside

I do that simply because you can't turn off my car's lights. They're always on when the engine is running.

I don't understand why you wouldn't have your lights on 24/7. Just makes sense. But on the topic of moronic drivers, when there's a bad driver here, the first question is always "Did he have American plates?" Usually they do.

Saw a chick today (on the phone of course) trying to turn in the left hand lane. She was behind 2 cars I believe. Well, the light turns yellow, so she swurves to the right and into the next lane over, speeds through the light and proceeds to make the left from the middle lane cutting off the front car. How she didn't get hit still amazes me.

I wish cars from the UK is same. Lights should ALWAYS be on when the engine is running because of people's stupidity.

It seems that idea has been gaining momentum, I agree every car should have this feature. I think it was Saturn years ago that had the commercial about how even if you notice that car has its lights on during the day, you STILL NOTICE the car. Better safe than sorry.

I'm not sure why nationality is relevant? But yeah there's no harm in aiding visibility while driving at any extent.

In Canada it's a law-- manufacturers have to make it so the lights are always on. you can't turn them off at all. I think, anyways... It actually prevents accidents, though, which is kind of odd. But I guess it's a good idea. And it doesn't kill your lights any faster-- I have a 1997 GMC Sierra, I got it in 1999, and I still haven't changed the headlights. Although I'm going to this week, because they're getting a bit dim for highway driving.

the country is not messed up, the reason why there isnt a law is becuase there is absolutely no need for it :?

maybe you should read this,

UK law,

Motorists must use sidelights between sunset and sunrise and headlights at night (between half an hour after sunset and half an hour before sunrise) on all roads without street lighting and on roads where the street lights are more than 185m apart or are not lit. Motorists must;

use headlights or front and rear fog lights when visibility is seriously reduced, generally to less than 100 m,
use dipped headlights at night in built-up areas unless the road is well lit,
use headlights at night on lit motorways and roads with a speed limit in excess of 30 mph.

is that not clear enough for people to understand ?

You sound like an angry teenager who almost got into an accident because you weren't paying attention. There are no need for lights during the day, and if it's raining then you can turn on your parking lights. If you need lights during a sunny day to help you not get into an accident, then pay more attention.
