Is sugar. How long have you gone without anything with sugar?

I beg to differ. The most addicting substance on the planet is oxygen. Oxygen withdrawal symptoms include, but are not limited to, brain failure, passing out, and death.

Thank you captain obvious. :P
You know what the most addicting form of sugar is? PEZredstorm72
Cane sugar or high fructose corn syrup :P..?
Addiction is the persistent compulsive use of a substance known by the user to be physically, psychologically, or socially harmful. Oxygen is necessary for survival.I beg to differ. According to Dictionary.com, Addiction isthe state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma.
I was joking with that, because sugar isn't really addictive either, but oxygen might be able to be stretched to fit the above definition of addiction.
We are all pretty enslaved to oxygen. We either breathe it, or wedie. I can't speak for the rest of you, but I am in the habit of regularly taking in oxygen. Were I to cease breathing oxygen, I would certainly die. I think death could be considered severe trauma.

I rarely breathe oxygen, it's way over-rated.[QUOTE="redstorm72"]You know what the most addicting form of sugar is? PEZ1oh1nine1
AGREED!!
High fructose corn syrup and artificial colorings it is then! :P
I think death could be considered severe trauma.Duxsox56:lol: I thought you had to be alive to experience what we define as trauma. At one point trauma stops and death begins. You could argue for a "trauma continuum" but not a, "death continuum." You are either dead or alive - while alive, you could experience trauma, but there is a distinct line defining these two "states."
Whatever, this is getting confusing. :P

thats not addictive, thats a necessity.
sugar is simply carbohydrates. Sugar comes in all forms, from fruit to vegetables and so forth.
If we are talking about refined sugar, i.e. white sugar from cane or beat juice...then yes, that is mildly addictive. Extremely mild.
Honestly I think the addictiveness of sugar is blown out of proportion; its incorporated into a lot of foods people eat daily, and as a result studies link this as addictive when in fact its simply habit. If you liveoff of water, bread with sugar in the dough, and a multivitamin, and you take the sugar out of the bread, you will notice a change in the person's behavior simply because your withdrawing what is normal. However, the person will adjust to it.
Nah I think Heroin is still a little more addicting than sugar.....JonnyEagleThat's what i expected this thread to be about.
There was a survey, or study, cant remember where i read it? Almost certain was MSN website. But yeah, WoW was number one. Above nicotine/drugs and the ones you would suspect.I thought it was World of Warcraft. :|

... is a substance?
Actually I think the interwebz are tubes sir.Is sugger really addicting? I think we have a lot of sugar because it gets put in a lot of things whether we like it or not, but some of us (people like myself) found our tastes started to reject it. I found myself unable to drink coca cola or lemonade because all I could taste is the suger. I find I have a very small limit of what cakes or chocolate I can eat each day, then my body demands something with substance, something savory or full of protein.
Suger is the reason I became a damn alcoholic in fact. I found that other then water I needed something else to drink, and since I was getting headaches from all the pops and sodas and pure juices are sometimes more of a food then an actual thirst quenching drink, I found myself getting satisfaction from beer. None of the beers I drink have any sugar in them, that's the great thing about beer, it's just pure Water, Maize, Barley and hops. It's savory.
Trouble is I kept drinking beer every day topped off with the odd glass of water since beer may give you the taste and satisfaction you need but it's not always doing you much good in quenching a thirst. I found I couldn't go a day without beer, as I am now.
I often start drinking at 11:30 am and average between 3-6 pints a day. If I don't have any I get really agitated and can't sleep at night, often finding my mind shifting to doom and gloom. Thing is I'm nothing like Pasty from Absoultley Fabolous or Barney from The Simpsons in which it shows the alcoholic being permanently drunk. It has a lesser effect on my actual behavior me since I am so used to it's influences, but it still effects my coordination just like eveyone else, so I wouldn't dare go driving no matter how sober I may feel.
I won't say alcohol is the most addicting substance on the planet, but it is certainly more so then sugar.
