I find a bunch of songs that have depressing Lyrics

Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen  (Mind Blowing Song. One of the best songs ever.)

Objects In The Rear View May Appear Closer Then They Are - Meatloaf (Whoever doesn't think that this song is sad really needs to get their heads checked. IMO)

Hotel California - The Eagles (Another fantastic song but it is kinda depressing near the end.)

My Clone Sleeps Alone - Pat Benetar

Time - Pink Floyd

Shine On You Crazy Diamond Pt.1 and 2 - Pink Floyd

My Meloncholy Blues - Queen

What songs do you find a depressing or kinda sad?

I don't know what I have that is the saddest lyrics, but I do listen to a lot of depressing songs.

I think they also influence what I write too. I write a lot of depressing and saddening stuff...

Yes it is :) I would also like to add Bullet with Butterfly Wings - Smashing Pumpkins as a sad song. Sure, it's loud, but the lyrics are pretty sad :P It's as if the singer/lyricist is admitting inferiority...

Not only were the lyrics sad, at the end of the video, you could see his sad face. He knew he was going to die.

Rock-a-bye, baby
In the treetop
When the wind blows
The cradle will rock
When the bough breaks
The cradle will fall
And down will come baby
Cradle and all

Makes you wonder... "what's the point?" :(

Radiohead-There, There

Proof:

In pitch dark I go walking in your landscape
Broken branches trip me as I speak
Just cos you feel it doesn't mean it's there
Just cos you feel it doesn't mean it's there
There's always a siren singing you to shipwreck (don't reach out, don't reach out [x2])
Stay away from these rocks we'd be a walking disaster (don't reach out, don't reach out [x2])
Just cos you feel it doesn't mean it's there (there's someone on your shoulder [x2])
Just coz you feel it doesn't mean it's there (there's someone on your shoulder [x2])
Feel it
Why so green
And lonely [x3]
Heaven sent you
To me [x3]
We are accidents waiting
Waiting to happen
We are accidents waiting
Waiting to happen

Clann Zu-From Bethlehem to Jenin.   Posting lyrics won't do it justice, you have to hear the song first.
Same thing with Sufjan Stevens - Concerning the UFO Sighting Near Highland, Illinois.

The Perfect Element by Pain of Salvation

Yesterday found him today
Caught him at his last breath
These walls built to stand come-what-may
Lie shattered in the ashes
His skin against this dirty floor
Eyes fixed on the ceiling
He has stretched those chains of sin
Far beyond all feelings
Still, so still...

In his head a thunderous
Cry of desperation
Tearing voices from his past
Scream for his attention
Behind those eyes a world explodes
No one there to save him
All pain that he's been passing on
Answers to his craving
Once more

I will never leave this shame...

Falling beyond the point of no return
Nothing to become and nothing left to burn

Stealing meaning from this child
We took away his reason
His soul put under lock and key
His heart blackened from treason
But if you take from those you fear
Everything they value
You have bred the perfect beast
Drained enough to kill you

Falling beyond the point of no return
Nothing to become and nothing left to burn

Once he had forests and mountains
That were only his - listening to him
Once he would run through the summer days
Catching memories for ages to come
Now he is dressing this naked floor
With his flesh and blood, and time passes by
His trade of pain might just have lead him
To deal with consequence
For some change as time passes by

I am the waking child
(Lingering, climbing, clinging, clutching
Craving, clawing, hurting, falling down)
I, the wayward son of a mountain lake
(Of icy liquor tears, of a silent Earth)
(Of a rusty lid, of a wingless wind)
(Of an eyeless storm, of fallen gods,
who lost their way)
I set myself on fire
To breed the Perfect Element

Will I ever walk again?

Falling far beyond the point of no return
Nothing to become and nothing left to burn

(This is the end)

Nothing left to say,
The pain will go away
Now you must surely see,
That you are killing me

There's a ton more I could list, but especially this being a finale of a story after a long fight for the albums protagonists to better themselves, just giving in pretty much wins the cigar for me.

Porcupine Tree - Fear of a Blank Planet has really depressing lyrics, especially after VT.

Others are for example:

Hurt - Rapture (probably the saddest love song ever written)

Tool - Schism and The Patient (the lyrics are really quite open to own interpretations but my own interpretations are quite depressing)

Tool - Wings pt. 1 and 2 (Wings for Marie, 10000 Days) - the lyrics are actually quite hopeful, but knowing the background and why Maynard wrote the songs really makes me feel sad every time I listen to them.

You clearly have never listened to a song by the cheerfully titled 'Cannibal Corpse'. As I'm sure you can guess, they write the most uplifting songs, like 'Stripped, raped, and strangled'!

Schism isn't open to interpretation:|. It's about a guy who's broken up with his gf and how their relationship began and broke down. It's basically an entire song dedicated to building and rebuilding relationships.

Here's the most depressing lyrics of all time:

You put your right foot in/You pull your right foot out/You put your right foot in/And you shake it all about/You do the hokey pokey/and you turn yourself around/That's what it's all about!

Others are for example:

Hurt - Rapture (probably the saddest love song ever written)

inoperativeRS

True indeed, i absolutely love Hurt. Every time i hear Rapture i get the chills.

Hurt - Rapture Lyrics

In the life of the wrong a love lingered on,
Love lingered on to frustration.
And if our love is so wrong, what should we do alone?
Or am I just a picture in a photograph?
Why are we stuck in this pantomime fearing a god who died?
One who would not deny lovers?
And I don't care what they say, if what you need is your faith,
Then take a look at my face and know

That till your rapture falls to pieces
Until your rapture falls to pieces
Find in me the room to breathe,
Simple things like suffering
Life had gone this way
Life is gone this way

Still in the life of the wrong we all moved along
Another life evolved to gestation
And so we made our way with the mistake we made
But she was just a picture in the photograph

So she walked in the baby's room
Knowing what she should do leave me in
Absolute horror
She put her hand on its lips she gave it
One last kiss
And sang some tune that went

Until your rapture falls to pieces
Till your rapture falls to pieces
Find in me the room to breathe,
Simple things are suffering

And I would and I would, destroy your god
Yes I would if I could destroy your god
Because you're born again
Until you're worn again,

Till your rapture falls to pieces
Till your rapture falls to pieces
Find in me the room to breathe,
Sinful things are suffering
Till your rapture falls to pieces
Till your rapture falls to pieces

But, if this must be, then burn with me
Anything
Just don't leave
So find in me the room to breathe
Sinful things are suffering
Till your rapture falls to pieces

She swore she heard the voice of Jesus
Telling her it was wrong to keep it
And one more thing, it looked like me
Back when it breathed
Rest in peace
Until the rapture comes to meet us

Also, Hurt's song Overdose is a little ...emo? lol

Hurt - Overdose Lyrics

I'll take one, 'cause I needed to feel it so much
I had an emotional crutch, but
I'm feeling bored so I'll take some more
Cause nothing is happening
And once you told me that you loved me so much
I foolishly began to trust, but
Now I'm ignored and I'm taking more, till
Something is happening.

I'll take one 'cause I needed to feel it so much
I needed that thing we call fun, but
Now I'm ignored and I'll take some more, till
Something is happening
Cause once I thought you were right here with me, so
Maybe I'll take two or three
Until I believe what I have seen is really happening.

Morpheus! How could you leave me when I had need of your love?
Stop holding back!
Give me one reason to think you're decent
When I am alone
Don't you ever try to bring me back

With this one I needed to feel you so much,
I wantingly longed for your touch, but
Now I'm ignored and I'm feeling bored
'till something is happening.
Cause once I thought you were right here with me, so
Maybe I'll take two or three
Until I believe what I have seen is really happening.

With this one I needed to feel you so much
I needed that thing we call fun.
Now I'm ignored and I'm taking more, till
Something is happening
Cause once I thought you were right here with me, so
Maybe I'll take two or three
Until I believe what I have seen is really happening.

No no more!
God Morpheus why did you leave me when I had need of your love?
No holding back now!
Give me the real thing!
I've got a reason
When I am alone
Don't you ever try to take me back.

sorry for the long post, but we were supposed to tell of depressing songs so ya :P

Joy Division - Twenty Four Hours

So this is permanence, love's shattered pride.
What once was innocence, turned on its side.
A cloud hangs over me, marks every move,
Deep in the memory, of what once was love.

Oh how I realised how I wanted time,
Put into perspective, tried so hard to find,
Just for one moment, thought I'd found my way.
Destiny unfolded, I watched it slip away.

Excessive flashpoints, beyond all reach,
Solitary demands for all I'd like to keep.
Let's take a ride out, see what we can find,
A valueless collection of hopes and past desires.

I never realised the lengths I'd have to go,
All the darkest corners of a sense I didn't know.
Just for one moment, I heard somebody call,
Looked beyond the day in hand, there's nothing there at all.

Now that I've realised how it's all gone wrong,
Gotta find some therapy, this treatment takes too long.
Deep in the heart of where sympathy held sway,
Gotta find my destiny, before it gets too late.

3 Libras by A Perfect Circle, that brings a weapon to my head. And Dissappear by Dream Theater brings a tear to my eye. It's not only the lyrics but the way they are sing (please check grammar); the energy in James Keenan voice in 3 Libras and the emotion of James LaBrie in Dissappear darn, that's powerful.

Adam's Song - Blink-182Apocalypse33

Mark Hoppus is still alive and has not yet killed himself. Until he does, I am not taking that song seriously at all.
