Pretty self explanatory title I hope. Judging by criteria such as for example; difference compared to your normal place of comfort, how far away it is, how common it is for people to go there etc.

For me I guess it's Lebanon. It's really not that exotic. Pretty Western and used to be a popular country for tourism. Nowadays westerners avoid it to some extent however. Beautiful country though with nice people.

As a place that differs mostly from what I live in and grew up... I have to north east of Poland. I have been to small towns before, but never in a country with a culture that different from my own.

Depends on your definition of exotic. My definition is an area that is very much surrounded by nature and thus my answer is Hawaii.

Puerto Vallarta on the west coast of Mexico. But is Switzerland considered exotic? Been there in Zurich. Also visited Amsterdam. And in Germany I toured one of King Ludwig's castles from which the Disneyland Castle was modeled after.

I've traveled quite a bit, but my favorite destination by far has been Costa Rica. We stayed on the Pacific coast and then traveled inland and ended up at the bottom of the volcano for the rest of the trip.

(Rome is 2nd)

Lake Towada and the Japanese Alps. I also find northern Arizona to be quite exotic with its Grand canyons and Meteor Crater.

I've also been to Crater Lake in Oregon.

Also, the Philippines is about as exotic as it gets for me. New Year's Eve is fun over there. ;) First impressions aren't good. But, the people are warm and friendly. It's always good when the wife takes a trip there.

I´ve been to a lot of exotic places in Mexico some:

Cascadas de Agua Azul in Chiapas

Cañón del Sumidero in Chiapas

Teotihuacan Estado de Mexico

The Tula Giants in Tula

Laguna de Bacalar in Quintana Roo

Chichen Itzá, Uxmal, Tulum, Coba ( Maya ruins in Yucatán & Q. Roo )

If you can call the Sonora desert "exotic", well I´ve been there too.

I've never been anywhere exotic. The farthest I've been from home was when I went to a town north of Lansing, Michigan.

I haven't been to many places so far in my life owing to obvious reasons, let alone exotic ones. Although Brussels isn't exotic per say, the experience ended up exceeding all preconceived expectations; it was mainly related to the settings of the visit and the conditions surrounding it. As far as the place itself goes, that dreary Gothic feel to it just hit the spot and was exotic enough for me.

Now if you were to ask me about what "exotic" places I'd like to visit, then I'd answer Iceland, Greenland and certain parts of Israel, the latter being exotic for apparent reasons.

@themajormayor: I can see how Lebanon appeals to a western tourist as it seems to offer a "mainstreamed" orient experience with a whole lot of westernization to go along with it. At some point I wanted to visit the place but not anymore. In fact nowadays, you may have to pay me a good deal of money and pander to my every whim in order to convince me to set foot in the country.

I haven't travelled around much. Probably California. I come from a small town so it was an entirely different environment from what I am use too. I plan to do some travelling soon..

I've also been to the northern Andes of South America, took a dip in the Great Salt Lake of Utah, same in the cold waters of Lake Tahoe and the tropical waters of Key West..... As a kid, I've been to the Australian Outback.

I think the Dominican Republic beats everything else in the "exotic" term of places I've been, watch the Jurassic Park movies and you'll get an idea of their tropical forests.

Disney land. But other then that Jamaica. I've been to other islands but that is by far the most exotic. Though I did go cave exploring or what ever you want to call it in Mexico which was awesome.

i've been to india twice, and both times were bonkers

mafia scoping out tourists at inner city hotels, widespread male prostitution, drugs and ample access to cannabis, blonde and blue-eyed girlfriend got mobbed by groups of wandering men every time she went to the beach, mc maharaja burger scraps being fought over outside mcdonalds by little homeless kids

all compressed into a couple of weeks, nothing in denmark has ever come close to the intensity i witnessed over there
