As happy as I am to see Mr. Smith up on that list.. it's Elliott Smith, two t's.
Yeahh, his was the same thing as Kurt Cobain. Suicide with conspiracies that his girlfriend murdered him.
Dimebag Darrel (Shot on stage by some crazy maniac. RIP)
John Lennon (shot ftl)
Kurt Cobain (Murdered by Courtney Love )
Jimi Hendrix (Sleeping pills and vomit ftl)
Stevie Ray Vaughan (Helicopter crash)
Tupac (Shot)
Randy Rhoads (Plane crash into bus and mansion because of cocaine :?)
Although I am a huge guitarist, I'd put Lennon as my top pick, way too influential to me and everyone to be ranked anything else. Jimi Hendrix is tied with SRV for the same reason, their guitar gods... RIP Voodoo child and the Texas Titan (my SRV nickname...)
Freddy Mercury was amazing and Randy Rhoads was pretty good
Jeff Buckley, D Boon, and a plethora of other guys. D Boon mostly.Greatgone12
Agree with D.Boon. Kurt Cobain was influential too in helping people discover new music....

Double
Anyway, most influential is hard to pinpoint since different bands influence different people...but I guess I'd pick Lennon.
Hendrix
Cobain
Mozart/Beethoven/Chopin
Miles Davis/John Coltrane
Pac/Biggie
Lennon
Marvin Gaye/Luther Vandross/Barry White
John Lennon
George Harrison
Tupac
Bob Marley
Jim Morrison
Janis Joplin
JimiHendrix
John Entwistle
Kurt Cobain
Agree with D. Boon, Elliott Smith, and Nick Drake. I think someone said Zappa.
I'll add:
Mark Sandman (Morphine)
Mary Hansen (Stereolab)
I would say my #1 pick is Arthur Lee (Love) who died last year.
