Definitely.

He is very underrated, well I think he is at least. The Red House Painters are one of the best bands of the 90s, Sun Kil Moon are really good too.

Yeah, but he wastes it.

When he was in Audioslave he didn't wanna do any political songs.

And I actually heard him sing a song about how his girlfriend is "Screaming at the top of your head".

Why Cornell?; Why?

im not a fan of cornell's new music, but what is wrong with singing songs about you're girlfriend? Love is the most universal theme in music I can think of.

To me it could just mean a voice that conveys emotions well like Nick Cave. To some it might just mean a very epic voice like the guy from muse.

I don't know, I thought he meant influential or something

I didn't think he actually meant their voice.

But, why does it matter if its modern or not?

"Powerful" most likely refers to the voice itself; not depending on the type of songs in which it is used.

Morrissey is still the king in my book. He's got a little more trouble hitting the high notes than in the '80s, but his voice is as powerful as it ever was.

For me it's Chris Cornell. I don't care if he's singing about black hole sun's, gasoline, or crazy-ass hoes that get all up in his grill. I aspire to have his power and range.

Cut out the condescending tone. Plenty of people can't convey emotion with their singing.
