I guess I'm kind of lucky. I get very few spots.
I have no idea if facial hair has any effect on it. I've got a soul-patch and a fair bit of stubble but that's about it.

growing a beard will only make it worse. i never had horrible acne when i hit that special time of every young mans life. i was lucky, i was able to wash my face alot and it would mostly keep it under control. i'm an adult now with VERY oily skin and still somewhat acne prone but lots of washing gets most of it. my suggestion is to wash your face 3 times a day and use that pro active stuff, its supposed to be a miracle cure. don't sweat your acne either, most chicks once they hit that age start getting it too and are WAY more critical of themselves than guys are. just be you and don't sweat it.

I can't tell you how amazing Pro-activ is. I've been using it for over a year now and i went from having a face covered in Acne to only have two or three pimples a month. The only thing is if you don't keep it on a regular schedule it's not going to help that much, so make sure to use it twice a day.

Pro active should do it for you dude.....but maybe its just your age. At a certain age most people will start to get acne, then as they grow older it goes away.

I had really bad acne for years until I was about 20. I used Pro Activ for a year and I can honestly tell you that my acne cleared up almost completely by just drinking water, and nothing but water more than it ever did with a year of Pro Activ. I stopped drinking soda and kool-aid and dank nothing but water. It really helped. I know people say food and drink don't contribute to acne, but it sure contributes to getting rid of it. Now, I use St. Ives facial Scrub (it's awesome and it's like sand-paper for your face and it's less than $5 at any drugstore) and any Nivea or Dove body/face lotion after I shower and I just drink water and my skin is fine.

Take a bath in a tub filled with aftershave every morning, it might sting a bit but it will clear it right up.

I luckily don't have bad acne, but I definitely get some.

I use this Clean & Clear stuff called "Maximum Strength Invisible Blemish Treatment," and it works overnight. It's really good. It's in a little clear bottle. I buy it at Target. It's $5 or less.

It works for me, but my acne is pretty mild.

Acne is a pain in the arse. I've tried using pro-active, Klear(I think that's what it's called), neutrogena, and some other facial creams and it either a)makes me break out with more acne or b)shows very little improvement regarding killing acne. Nothing works for my acne no matter what I try, so I just gave up trying to get rid of it. My sister went through the same problem but all of hers still isn't gone yet, and she's 21. When I spoke to my doctor about it he was worried that if I don't get rid of most of my acne now, I'll end up getting facial scarring. So yep, it sucks big time.

Well for extreme cases theres a prescription called Accutane that'll clear it up, but that stuff is harsh and requires you to take monthly blood tests to check for kidney function and such.

Accutane, that name sounds very familiar. My acne is not that severe though.

I only get small outbreaks when I drink too much soda.

I do have some blackheads on my nose though....

Hopefully proactiv will help you.

mine used to come and go. once i thought i permanantley got rid of my acne, i stopped caring about my face and there it was again after a few days. so take care of your face until your hormones calm down which is around early 20s.

Your doctor can prescribe some medications that are stronger than proactive. Drinking lots of water and washing your face a couple times a day also helps. If it is an extreme case there is always accutane.

I'm using Anti-Biotics to get rid of mine and trust me works very well, as for the person who said up above grow a beard, I actually found after doing it that they rarely appear there anymore so that works as well.

I feel your pain, played football, broke out and it was SICK. I tried Pro Active that S**t burned my forehead and gave me scaring. Be weary of the topical medicine you use, try a little first. Now I use Trinton gel and its going away slowly(5 months in) but if you want to there are pills. Dont worry it'll go away

I got given a list of side effects that could happen while on it also.

It's even worse for females, they have to be on birth control while they take it because theres a huge risk of birth defects, kinda scary.

I used to have bad acne, but then I went on some stuff called Accutane for about 6 months, and it worked amazingly. After I stopped using it, I got a little bit of acne about half a year later, but definitely not as bad as before. Now I take some pill stuff called Solodyn, and it works well.

I was under that treatment (different name, but I'm almost positive it is the same) for 6 months. Had terrible acne before doing it, covering my face, upper back, chest and arms. It's ALL gone now, but I got some scarring, and those 6 months were horrible -- the skin dries up at an exceptional rate, and my lips' skin would break easily. It was worth it though, no acne now whatsoever and it is permanent! :D

Now only if acne was related exclusively with success among the opposite sex... It brings a lot of other problems too.

I used to have bad acne but then i figured out touching my face was mainly the cause of it and now that i stopped are hardly get bumps anymore. Also i think there is a Neutrogena soap that you can use to dry up your face that will help alot. And ProActive never worked for me and i wasted my money:(

I also have pretty bad acne. I've tried cream, those pads, and even some pills that are supposed to stop acne, but they didn't work. I'm just going to live with it until I stop getting it, it's not really a big deal. Just use that concealer stuff so it's not as visible, that's honestly all I do besides wash my face once a day..
