Movies About Gaming ? Does it Ever Really Work ?

Not talking about Movies Based on a Video Game,

But Movies based on the Soul Character(s) is a Gamer of Some type?

There have been a Few that I can think of, and None of them have been able to pull it off?

A few Titles I can think of are these:

Gamer,
Gamers,
GameBox 1.0
The Wizard
Brainscan

Those are off the top of my Head, and None of these Were an Award winner - And not even Asking for that, Just asking for a Good one?

Only real thing I can say about any of these types of movies is, That idea that these Are all based on Gamers of Some Sort, Ive sat through em, and Of coure was Disappointed in all of em....And Blame myself for watching them in the first place, Knowing that The idea of a DecentMovie about Video Gamers is ridiculous in its own self...
But Should that be the Case?
Should a Movie about a Gamer or Gamers be Awful? There must be some way in making this type of Movie Work?
Or maybe there's already a Good movie out there I havnt Heard of ? But doubt it.

i have so far watched max payne, POP sands of time, they were all bad.hitman was okay. games made from movies are far worse like iron man

Im assuming that its sort of a Stereotype about Gamers?? BTW - Have u seen the Movie "Gamers" ? Not really about Video Gamers, but about DnD gamers..A Mockumentary about the Stereotypical D&D Players. Very Funny...

No reason that they HAVE to be bad. But the vast majority of them probably ARE going to be bad for the foreseeable future, simply because of the way that it's approached.

I mean, nobody actually HAS an awesome and amazing story about a gamer that simply needs to be shared. Instead, gamer movies are made because they have a built-in audience (that being gamers). And if there's anything I've learned, it's that gamers will watch anything game-related even when they know that it's gonna be ****. So someone decides to make a gamer movie in order to target the gamer demographic. And at that point, why even BOTHER going the extra mile to hire people who can write/direct/act their way out of a paper bag? Why go the extra mile on TALENT when it's going to make money anyway?
