i want all of us to make a list of movies that people never got a chance to see and should really go out and see it...so all you do is basically name one movie you recommend for others to watch..and please if you can just write a couple sentences about the movie that would be great, or you can just copy and paste the plot summary off of IMDb ...and then give your movie that you suggested a rating...lets make it 1 out of 5..and then give a short one to two word comment on the movie ( like its Masterpiece, and or brilliant movie...stuff like that )... ill start...

Oldboy (2003)

Plot Summary-

An average man is kidnapped and imprisoned in a shabby cell for 15 years without explanation. He then is released, equipped with money, a cellphone and expensive clothes. As he strives to explain his imprisonment and get his revenge, he soon finds out that not only his kidnapper has still plans for him, but that those plans will serve as the even worse finale to 15 years of imprisonment.

5 out of 5...One hell of a movie to see. Masterpiece.

NOW YOU :)

Hero-

It's probably the best damn film you'll ever see that's about chinese martial arts (9/10 of them are cheesy rip offs of old ones)

Requiem for a Dream is just about the most depressing movie I have ever seen. It contained faint pieces of hope only to shatter them all over again. That movie really makes you FEEL. Fantastic movie.

Wait, what?

It was horribly boring, predictable, and the half-assed action scenes dragged on far longer than anything should. Each Bourne movie has been a huge step down from the last so far.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

What you need to know about it: Its one of the best movies of all time (arguably the best). And unlike Citizen Kane, it can hold your attention for 3 hours. Its also required viewing in order to become a man. And if its on tv, do not interrupt whoever is enjoying watching it.

Chungking Express

Wong Kar-Wai's movie about two love-struck cops is filmed in impressionistic splashes of motion and color. The first half deals with Cop 223, who has broken up with his girlfriend of five years. He purchases a tin of pineapples with an expiration date of May 1 each day for a month. By the end of that time, he feels that he will either be rejoined with his love or that it too will have expired forever. The second half shows Cop 663 dealing with his breakup with his flight attendant girlfriend. He talks to his apartment furnishings until he meets a new girl at a local lunch counter.

All I can say is that if you love film, and have not seen this, then you really need to.

I recently got my hands on Amadeus. I've read on numerous sites that it is historically inaccurate, but that doesn't make it any less great. It really makes you think why some people are gifted and others aren't.

Moulin rouge. only if you appreciate the great vocals.
Foreign movies:

-The host
Oh my god this movie was friggin awesome. the atmosphere of this movie is strange. starts off like a hot, burning day, similar to a swap-meet (if you live in hawaii) and goes to cold dank, and Dissapointed (because someone died, or because you hoped a character would make it but they screwed up). honestly, an awesome movie
- Pan's labyrinth.
cmon, youve probably seen this. messed up, fantasy movie. like a fairy-tale for adults ^ ^
- Amelie.
This is a really cute movie ^ ^. the atmosphere of this movie is similar to the early parts of moulin rouge

Sorry people, the way im talking right now is messed up. i cant think of good words to say right now, haha i feel like some foreigner

Rose Red - most definitely one of the best productions from Stephen King IMO.

A Beautiful Mind - Very interesting and confusing at times, but it shows the unpredictability of the human mind.

American Beauty - very screwed up movie but very original, showing the dimentedness behind "every day life" and what sometimes may seem like an ideal family on the outside isn't always just that on the inside.

Do anyone read more than the thread title?

Anyway, I say 2001: A Space Oddysey

Extremely well made movie with a heavystory and fantastic film technique, hard to believe that it's from 1968. A must see.

I also need to suggest Equilibrium. It is an EXCELLENT film, better than the well-known Matrix.

This movie has a spectacular plot (post-apocalyptic world war III), and thus a fascist regime in which feelings, emotions, and so forth are abhorred. Taye Diggs does a great job as Brandt, who takes over as Preston's assistant. I would have liked to have seen more of Sean Bean, but his presence was known anyhow. Christian Bale does an excellent job playing Grammaton Cleric John Preston. The action scenes in this movie surpass those of the once hailed Matrix (1999). The plot builds throughout the film to a brilliant climax near the end. This movie is one of my favorite action movies of all time with both a good plot, stellar acting, and excellent cinematography. Easily a 10/10 or ****/****
