So Im moving out in one month for college.

I was just wondering what should I do with my stuff here? Im not moving into residence instead Im moving into student housing, a beautiful house that Ill share with 4 others.

My room is really big so I'll have my own space, I was just wondering should I move everything from my room to this new room?

Like should I have my own tv even though there'll be a big one in the common room, or should I bring my queen sized bed vs getting a twin sized mattress in the new place?

I also have a large DVD library, and stereo and all this ****, I wouldnt have it when I came back here for holidays but I guess it would only be a week or two at a time...

What did you people do, or what WOULD you do?

Get a twinsized mattress and work up...if you move your entire bed and you come back from the holidays...where do you sleep at home?

As for a TV, most colleges have students selling average sets from previous years for a small amount of cash, buy a reliable but cheap one of those.

As for DVD library and stereo...skip the stereo, bring a couple of DVDs (not all of them).

Bring everything and anything that you want if the dorm isn't that far from your things. I would do it.

Yeah dude, bring your own TV. You don't want to have to use the TV in the common room when you're watching your porno videos.

Keep your room spacious and have as little crap as possible. and where are you going? 4 people in a dorm may suck.

Bring everything with you. You won't be moving back in with your parents ever. It's nice to have all your own stuff in your room anyways. Fighting over the TV, etc isn't worth it.

You'd be surprised how many students graduate and end up going back home until they get some cash for a

apartment.

How many people do you actually know? How many thousands graduated in your year, from your school alone?

How large of a sample size are you looking for? A size large enough to get me to say 1 person in order to conclude you are right? The fact of the matter is, MOST people don't move back home.

But alot do. Maybe not the majority, but a lot do. College debt, and no jobs presenting themselves immediately put alot of people back home. Most people graduate with 20k in college debt on average.

You could always put whatever stuff you don't need in storage or just leave it with family members.

Go turn up the Linkin Park and sit in your corner.

And to answer the question, bring enough basic entertainment stuff (tv, dvd player, some video games), but don't bring anything too valuable. Even in a nicer house setting, people will drop in, things get broken or "lost." Just the safe bet.

Oh and dude, do you know these other 3 guys? Cause if not, there is a good chances you'll be bumping heads. That's what I don't like, the chance of getting with someone you just mesh with. And 3 guys who you don't mesh with? Talk about a hellish experience.

Best place to put your stuff? Bottom of your dirty laundry bin. Not even a burglar would look in there.

Well to those who are assuming its a "dorm" it isn't, it's OFF CAMPUS HOUSING, basically people will buy a HOUSE, and rent it to students only, So Im moving into a really big house, that will have 4 bedrooms, one which I will occupy.

I dont know any of the people moving in either, I assume that these people won't know anyone else either.

just bring the stuff you know your'll need the first week. You wouldn't believe the usless crap people bring their freshman year.

Also do you know these 4 other people or are they all strangers??? Cause I think it's going to be a pain sharing a bath, kitchen with people you don't even know. At least w/ the dorms somebody else cleans it up.

I would move my tv, computer, stereo, etc. (basically all useful electronics), and I would just buy a bed there, if you ever plan on coming home to visit during holidays.
