And the purpose of this thread is?

I mean, I love muffins, chocolate chip, blueberry, whatever, but it isn't exactly discussion-worthy.

Muffins are teh b4d for you.aaaaarrrrggggg

Depends on the muffin. Some muffins are basically renamed cupcakes, but some are healthy. I regularly have a blueberry flax muffin as part of breakfast, and that's very healthy.

Some muffins claim to be healthy, but not many are. Muffins have to be made with fat and sugar, some more than others. The six grams of fibre may be eclipsed by the 7 grams of fat. I would consider some... less worse for you than others, but little to none healthy. If you have the nutritional information for those muffins you eat, I may make an exception though.

Fat by itself is not bad; indeed, fat is necessary for survival. What matters is the kind of fat; saturated and trans fats should be avoided, but the omega fats should be actively sought out, as they actually work to improve heart health. The fat in the muffins I eat is entirely made up of the latter kind.

Muffins are inherently flawed - they require far too much oil and keep poorly.

Replace much of the oil with plain yogurt or fat free sour cream, and you've solved the problem. Works especially well with extra-blueberry muffins.

Doesn't solve the issue of them drying out fast, though. I just keep mine in the freezer and microwave them for 20 seconds.

some people like cupcakes. But I for one care less for them.

I like all kinds of muffins, my favorites are from Costco. When I was little we would freeze them to store them longer, but I ate t hem frozen and they were really good that way. I would use a knife and cut them into frozen cubes of baked muffin batter and eat them with the point of my knife and it scared my mom (I was like seven with a sharp knife going in my mouth) and my sister thought it was weird.

Chocolate Chip Muffins.... I have one everyday and I wouldn't change it. Now if there were Blueberry muffins sold where I get Lunch I think I would buy them over the chocolate chip muffin.

I know that the omega's are good for you, but was referring to the increased calorie concentration. I know that fast metabolisms and self control can easily nullify this downside, but not everybody is blessed with these traits. I know too many people who are obese, one of them eats muffins like he's possessed. You are right about some muffins being healthy in a technical sense, but even those tend to be loaded with calories and can lead to unhealthy results.
