He's going to get about 6 viewers. Canadians tend to be a little more to the left than Murdoch's target audience. LOL, Rupert Murdoch.

Maybe Im unclear on the report, but I thought it was going to be a new organization? Im sure they will research and find a market. Tapping into the Anti Americanism to the extreme could be viable. Imagine investigative reports on how the US is virtually stealing all of Canadas resources will appeal to the common person who fanatically hates the US.

You have it backwards. We are centre-left by nature. Even our centre-right has progressive roots in some areas. This will be on the right ideologically. The rabid anti-americanism is on the left. You cannot appeal to anti-americanism in Canada without being in favour of left leaning economic policies since the two go hand in hand.
Oh please no. I live in Canada and I have seen the bs from them when watching them on the internet and we don't want any of that here. Don't get me wrong I mean there are times where even liberal networks can spread crap as well and we get them here too but Fox News takes the biggest cake.
[QUOTE="Haziqonfire"]No thanks. Don't really want that garbage here.J-WOWwell you're getting it anyways That's fine, I don't intend on watching it. A lot of Canadians won't watch it either.
it'll be interesting to see how thier crime rate are affected.

Well, as people become more and more conservative, crime rates go down; it'll be a good thing.

Wouldn't that create a bit of a problem if one of their networks was running extremely pro-America propaganda and the other extremely anti-America propaganda? I can just see John Stewart running the Canadian and American Fox broadcasts one after the other right now.
Anyways, people saying this won't take off might not remember a time before Fox gained acceptance in this country. For the longest time everyone knew Fox was full of crap and just rabid sensationalism, but they just kept hammering and hammering and hammering, and marketing, and appealing to certain demographics in certain ways, and before you know it they're dictating national discourse. I think Fox will find a way to be successful in Canada, and I'm going to find it hilarious. Every time there's a Fox thread in OT you invariably get our Candaian neighbors showing up and saying how glad they are to not have to deal with that crap, I think some Canadians are going to get a harsh lesson in what happens with lowest common denominator newscasting.

check the sources, but it seems to contradict what you said.
btw I wasn't even referring to what you brought up. there was a documentary i saw (forget what) that brought up the american style of news media as one reason why americans may be more violent than canadians even though they have guns and poverty etc. there too. something about it keeping us afraid of eachother and paranoid. and since I'm guessing fox news north will bring that style of sensationalized "journalism" to canada it would be interesting to see how their crime rates are affected.
I think it's great. Free market capitalism. If people don't watch it, it will go away. We'll see what happens.
I really wish news was just some dull guy sitting behind a desk panning out relatively true facts, rather than all this ridiculous editorializing and opinionizing that happens with these American channels.
The closest thing we have now is peter mansbridge, which is sad.
Man keep that crap out of the GTA. maybe it could work in alberta :P but true say,Ford got elected so who knows maybe toronto will listen
[QUOTE="Thessassin"]There's already the Sun papers, that's enough. :PMan keep that crap out of the GTA. maybe it could work in alberta :P but true say,Ford got elected so who knows maybe toronto will listen
bluezy
well see how it does, if it becomes successful we can always do another G20 riot, directed at fox
Interesting. I wonder how this will turn out. The real question is whether Fox blindly side with or against the Quebecois secessionist movement. :P (my money is on against)
