After watching three of my live Muse dvd's today it's obvious that nobody can out-perform Muse. They're just the best. They play and sing everything perfectly and are always improving their songs by adding/changing different sections of the song, by either playing or singing it differently. Everything they do on stage just has so much energy. Go watch a live Muse performance and compare it to any other band. Muse is the best ever.

edit: I KNOW that this is an opinion and I HAVE seen them in person and not just on dvd. Also, I'm not claiming to be an expert on the subject.

You can say that Muse is your favorite band live, sure, but it's such a subjective thing that stating them as unconditionally the best live band on the face of the planet is a rather bold statement to make.

Radiohead is really good too, but Thom really isn't as exciting to watch.

But they do it awesomely. That's the difference. I've seen bands change a few notes here and there but Muse adds completely new things to songs.

Every band does that. I have an AC/DC video where the song Jailbreak is 14 minutes long. The original is only around 4 or 5. Ever single band I've seen in concert changes their songs and the solos to go with them. Bands concerts would be boring if they played the exact same recordings as their CDs.

There is no 'best'. Music is about what you like. Even if you were going to look at quantifiable traits for a band's live performance, which traits were given what weight in such considerations would be a hotly contested issue.

Well, I've never been to one of their concerts so I can't rightly say. I haven't really been to that many concerts, but I Blonde Redhead delivered an awesome show at my first concert experience, which hasn't been passed since. I'm seeing the Cure in a month I think (if that doesn't mess up with prom, in which case I have a dilemna), but the point is just that it's subjective. it's about what an individual likes or doesn't like.

Okay, it's on.

(All three from the same night.)

The scream at 2:03 makes this 100% awesomer.

Killer piano skillz.

And an epic finisher. (One of the best Muse songs ever)

The ones you showed were really good, now I can't wait to see those guys at Lollapalooza.

Yeah, I'll be catching NIN for a seventh time on their next UK tour...

That piano playing was crazy.

anyway, back to the battle...

I'll pick from other tours as well to show the consistency of brilliance...

Oh and there is some strong language on those... so yeah... there's the warning...

Happiness In Slavery was still the best out of all the ones I've seen so far, that was amazing.

Anyway, back to Muse.

Here's another, prepare for epicness at 3:30.

And one more, just to show of their slower side.

I tried to find some videos of the show I was at, but most are pretty bad quality.

Haven't seen her live yet I'm affraid, but Bjork seems absolutely incredible.

The best live vid I've seen from her:

http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=yDYMfm0JQOE

And some vids from a concert in the riverside church (With an eskimo choir):

http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=xmxLBrveTCg

http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=O3-PdudE85E&feature=related

http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=Qp-Jmos10dg&feature=related

And finally Declare Independence live on a tv show, with someone playing on a reactable (supposedly only two of those exist worldwide)

I'm not interested in ritualistic contact with humans who are not aware they are even engaging in ritualistic activities.

What I mean is.. live music sucks. Standing around listening to someone play sucks. Social activity sucks.

Muse is the best ever.KLAX42

I wouldn't say they're the best live band on the planet, but they are entertaining. I have a live dvd of them at Glastonbury perfomed in 2004. The lead singer is definitely a great showman and musician. They do put on a great show.

Muse sucks. There are so many bands Ive seen live that would blow muse out of the water, and Ive seen these bands live in person, not just on dvd where overdubs can be made. Rollins Band, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Weezer, NOFX, Bad Religion are all better than Muse live.

Iron Maiden just gave you a big F-U. On DVDs and such they still alter the sound as if it were a studio. You have to ACTUALLY see them live to know how good they are. I saw Iron Maiden last month and it was incredible.
