They've practically been tumbling down a neverending slope ever since Origin of Symmetry.

Fixed. Muse can do whatever they want though, they don't have to recreate Origin of Symmetry every time unless they want to. As soon as a band starts making music just to make the fans happy, it ceases to be artistic expression.
It wasn't that good, but really though, everytime i see "Dubstep sucks" relating to this song, it makes me want to jump out my window. How is it even close to dubstep? It's not two step, it doesn't have a BPM format like dubstep, it's guitar and not even done electronically. So it literally has 0% in common with dubstep. That's not even a wub, it's the guitarist playing with the strings. I also disliked the song they did for the olympics, hopefully the rest of the album is good.
I started with Absolution and I stopped with Absolution.
I don't care about anything else they ever did.

You are doing yourself a dis-service sir! If you like Absolution then you MUST check out Origin of Symmetry and Showbiz. Both those albums are fantastic and personally Origin is my fav Muse album.
As for this particular song, I think this is mainly an issue of the song being RADICALLY different from what the band has done in the past. They DID say they were going to use electronic stuff but this is definitely way more than what people were expecting I am sure.
The song itself isn't terrible and I feel if this wasn't coming from Muse that it would be much better received. It also doesn't help that Bellamy's fantastic voice is almost non-existant in this song.....
I like everything apart from the 'dubstep' part, it's ashame survival and this haven't been very good at all, but survival was for the olympics so that's probably the reason for the terrible lyrics. I still love every other album though, and this is the opening track i believe so it's just something to get the crowd started live... I hope.
