However, I never really liked rock and I would like to at least try to get into it a bit more.

Some of the rock and metal songs I actually enjoy just to give you an idea:

Metallica - Fade to Black

Metallica - Master of Puppets

Bob Dylan - Knocking on heaven's door

Eagles - Hotel California

The Killers - Read my mind

P.S. No death metal, I will never ever manage to get into that, other than that it's fine.

I don't like it either, but I am trying to widen my musical interests. There must be a couple of good songs the metal genre produced and I intend on finding them.

Everyone who likes death metal has said that before they started listening.

If you want to get into metal, well, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Sir Lord Baltimore, Church of Misery, Pentagram, Megadeth, Motorhead, Judas Priest, Anthrax, and Iron maiden are the places to start. After you're O.K. listening to and enjoying their discographies, some SLIGHTLY heavier bands would be Dark Angel, Venom, Sodom, Slayer, and Celtic Frost.

Try Diamond Head for metal. They're the band that Metallica basically stole their sound and playing style from. I also recommend Iron Maiden, they have a variety of stuff you might find an album or a couple of songs you like, their Seventh Son of a Seventh Son album has quite a few synthesizers and keyboard parts in it. I also recommend Savatage. Savatage would eventually turn into the Trans-Siberian Orchestra but they kicked some serious ass before the Christmas music. Maybe you scould also check out some Neo-CIassicaI Guitarists like Jason Becker, Joe Stump, and Yngwie Malmsteen. None of these are death metal, I hate death metal too.

I did the same, but I tried and failed on finding anything that changed my mind.

Give Megadeth a try. Peace Sells but Who's Buying is a good album to start with. If you're looking for faster stuff, check out Slayer.

Try Metallicas first 4 albums.
Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin are nice but they arent your typical avrage bands imo so you might not like em. Iron Maiden and Mötorhead are preaty good... actualy the best...clas-sical metal bands.
What do you actualy like bout metal btw? Like speed, heaviness, epic-nes-ness (lol), yelling etc.

I'm very open to most music so I like songs that are slow, I like songs that get you pumped up, I like the ones that relaxes you...etc I think metal probably falls in the pumping up part.

I'll stick with my NWOBHM and Neoclassical bands. I can't stand growling and heavy uncomplex riffs. I like my music intricate and done with feelings other than pure hate.

Uncomplex riffs? In terms of technicality, heavy metal is a joke. Neither is death metal all 'pure hate'. Please actually listen to the genre before criticizing it.

From all the death metal I've tried listening too. to all I hear is anger. Sure it makes songs sound badass but at the same timeand over abundance of it really takes away from music. I like heavy but I do not like too heavy. That's my opinion on the matter. I never said you were wrong for liking it. I will listen to afew but they're mainly the early bands in the genre like Death, mainly because Chuck Schuldiner actually could play the guitar. Other than that I just can't really get into the genre. In my opinion these are good riffs: Street Lethaland Thundersteel. I also love when the singer actually sings rather than growls. Like Thundersteel that I posted.

I think uncomplex was a little too explicit. It almost fit with "stupid". Some people don't feel the emotion in the music is too overpowering, and some people want a break from arpeggiations and sweeps. These are just opinions, as is yours, but you just kinda jumped the gun there.

For your electronic music needs, check out Capsule (later material) and Crystal Castles. If you're looking for some great hip-hop, I suggest Grandmaster Flash, A Tribe Called Quest, Tricky and Run-DMC.

As for rock music, I love it but Metallica really isn't my cup of tea, so I wouldn't know... Still, if you're willing to give a chance to something different, try Sonic Youth, Los Campesinos, Art Brut, The Sugarcubes and You Say Party! We Say Die!

If you want to listen to some more experimental electronic music I'd recommend checking out Warp Records. Fantastic label, though some of the music can be hard to get into. Some good artists on the label are Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, LFO, Plaid, Squarepusher, Prefuse 73 and Autechre.

Also, I'd recommend Future Sound of London, Orbital, Amon Tobin and Underworld as well.

I would recommend that anyone give the following albums a chance. Seriously, be open minded, give them a listen, and you may find some of the most amazing music you've ever heard: Nine Inch Nails - the Fragile. This double-album is an absolute masterpiece of music and creativity. I genuinely dont think it's even possible for Trent Reznor of NIN (or anyone else) to have made an album of any higher quality than this. Kid A and Amnesiac by Radiohead. Two albums released a year apart, but both recorded at the same time. Truly wonderful stuff. The Eraser - Thom Yorke. Beautiful, yet you can dance to it somehow. It's just lovely to listen to. London Calling - the Clash. Lots of people ignore this album because they equate the Clash with punk rock, but it's nothing of the sort. It's a massive 19-track album of world music covering so many different genres. And the lyrics and themes are just amazing. It's an album you can live with for months at a time. The Roots - Things fall apart. An awesome album from the first and the best hip-hop band in the world. I really hope someone listens to at least some of this and likes it. It's everything good about music and creativity if you ask me. :)

If you're after a bit of rap, try Sage Francis.

But I always recommend the red hot chili peppers.

I'll give a band that hasen't been mentioned yet.

'You LOve Her Coz Shes Dead' they are a great dance punk band

Neon-Tiger

They remind me so much of Crystal Castles, in a good way. Me Versus You gets me really pumped up.

Kap Bambino >>> Everything Else.

We Say Die!

I swear you are the only person I can relate to about music on gamespot :o

We are few but we are proud, my fellow indie-rocker friend ;)

I will agree that you like awesome music. Everything you listed is in my CD collection. :P

Try some Neil Young, Dave Matthews Band, The Band. Why not try out rock'n'roll? The Who, The Guess Who. There is tons out there. The Lions are really sweet. I don't know, it doesn't have to be metal.

Okay, I'm not exactly sure of what you like exactly so I'll mention some stuff. If you like Metallica, then it's also quite likely you'll like Megadeth. If you don't mind celtic influences or whatever it's called, try Nightwish or Elvenking (their older stuff has more of it, new stuff is more power metal.) And if you don't mind or like fantasy lyrics about warriors, dragons, werewolves and the like try Hammerfall, Avantasia (Metal Opera Pt.1 and Pt.2), Dream Evil, Firewind, Kamelot and Sonata Arctica. If you like Avantasia, also check out Tobias Sammet is his original band Edguy. Let me know if you like any of these and happy listening!

Edit: Forgot to mention Blind Guardian and Rhapsody of Fire.

Try the NWOBHM genre, Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath are good bands to start with.
