Can anybody suggest some alt. rock and alt.metal bands.

My favorite band is breaking benjamin and my 2nd favorite is smile empty soul!

I generally recommend The Cure......along with Placebo, Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam.....for starters.

I suggest Radiohead, The Clash, R.E.M, SoundGarden, Blur. If you like Alternative music, can't go wrong with these groups.

Why does the age of the music matter? These bands are timeless.

I really dont feel like listening to some 80 yr old dude singing lol :D

plus the sound quality isnt as good.

Sorry, but when it comes to Alt Metal you're not going to get any better than Alice in Chains and Kyuss. If you want to check out Kyuss, I'd recommend the album, Welcome to Sky Valley. There really isn't anything good that can be called alt-metal anymore, except for some of the leftover nu-metal bands. But nu-metal sucks.

Sound Quality schmound quality. Most old music gets remastered any-way.)

And f you want good rock music from this century check out Porcupine Tree. They're an extremely talented band.
