I can't stand pop rock, pop music, techno, deep house, black metal, electonica, christain rap, gospeland most new school rap and hip-hop. I also don't really care for new generation of R&B music it doesn't sound like R&B at all it sounds more like pop music.

I don't like screamo or emo at all. I also can't stand country or most pop and rap (though I do love some rap).

There are no genres that I completely shun. But usually when the singers just scream and growl into the mic, I get a headache >.>

Meh, the only way I can explain it is that I can't stand the modern main stream stuff. I mean, I went to launch the other day the first time in about 5 years to listen to some of the new stuff I've been missing out on. As it turns out, I can't seem to get into any of it, it all sound so very simple and non complex to me.

no screamo (which to me sounds like bad emo music but the d-bags screaming)

no emo (go cry somewhere else girly boy)

no "new" or "modern" country (its basically pop with a country twang)

no radio friendly pop (99% of radio pop "artists" aren't musicians, they just hire someone to write their music)

no wanna be hardcore gangsta rap (i don't care about the car you don't really have, the women you don't really get or the money you don't really make)

no tejano (almost all tejano i've heard has a 1-4-5 bassline, tejano is basically a creative cesspool)

no disco (keep disco evil)

so basically i like rock, jazz, metal, classical, blues, tribal, spanish (like flamenco) reggae and the vast majority of ethnically influenced music along with most variations on rock or metal. please take your creed, nickelback and seether elsewhere.

This simply isn't true. Don't mistake teeny-bopper girl country stars like Taylor swift with real country like Garth Brooks and Tim McGraw.

[QUOTE="nimatoad2000"]it must be hard to not even be able to tolerate metallica.. pretty mainstream stuff there. if u dont like metal, rap or techno, or country what do you like? ONLY classic rock? anyways.. i can tolerate everything.. and respect most everything ( minus bands that are just a media joke like jonas brothers and miley circus) .. but i personally do not like rap ( unless its very funny or has a great beat thatll get stuck in my head) , or country, also christian music, which tends to be country and soft rock... other than that i'm open to most music. i especially like rock, prog rock, all types of metal, jazz and classical.nimatoad2000

I like metalcore :D. I hate the vocals of Metallica, the rest is ok.

metalcore isn't metal, its a joke. you dont like angry vocals? i mean if you cant tolerate james hetfields vocals you wont be able to get into ANY other thrash band, he has the most tolerable voice of anyone.. the only metal singers that actually have vocal skill are dio, dickenson and halford, and a couple others including dream theater's singer and queensryche's.

*ahem* Warrel Dane anyone? That guy is an excellent singer. Oh, and I can't stand rap/hip hop, most country, and most modern rock.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and any kind of chistain music like christain rock, christian rap, christian black metal (yes there is such a thing), and so on and so forth. It's incredibly terrible. When I was in middle school my friend forced me to gow with him to a christian rock concert and I don't think I'll ever recover from the sheer terror I experiened.

I have rather cosmopolitan tastes in music. I listen to many varieties in several languages.

About the only thing I can not take is Dixieland.

I have also had my fill of big band because that is all my dad will listen to ... day and night.

Constant 30s and 40s stuff drives me up the wall.

Its cool that you don't like the genre. But at least know what you are talking about before bashing it. Not all rap/hip-hop consists of people rapping behind a beat.

You should check spanish metal, there are some very good singers. Leo Jimenez of Stravaganzza has an amazing voice:

Leo Jimenez high notes

Dolor (the last one) is imo the best one, while Carcel de Piel y Hueso shows that he knows how to control his voice.

Wow, all you people dislike metal/scremo? You gotta give them props though, screaming is very hard to do, and takes a lot of talent. A lot of bands also play kickass drum beats and amazing solos in their songs that you wouldn't hear from any other modern day group.

i find most rap to beabsolutely nauseating. the very nature of rap involves narrow repetition, which is something im generally against. far too much of it is pointlessly abrasive with no redeeming aesthetic qualities. some of it less abrasive, making it atleast tolerable. so i suppose its unfair to say i hate the whole genre, though i certainly dont like any of it.

"Music" where people scream into their mic.
