[QUOTE="Samwel_X"]Those who are yet to listen to Nine Inch Nails should. But several listens would be required to get into it.Lto_thaG
I cannot leave this board till every established member owns The Downward Spiral and The Fragile... it is written.
[QUOTE="someotherguy654"]http://youtube.com/watch?v=yQzt4fBY9QkOh yeah.bsman00so is that your band??Hell no.
Yeah nin are ok... You are the perfect drug, star f***ers, closer, head like a hole, are pretty much the only good songs they have imo
bsman00
You have to hear most songs in the context of the albums. Plus albums take 3 or 4 listens to sound really good if you are a new listener.
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Far better than the name suggests.JJ4545
Love their first two albums, and Howl is good every so often (great live), but I could not get into their last album.

I have them both on CD, and The Fragile on vinyl :D :D
well i could name all my favorite bands but currently I've been listening to the band Bright Eyes, their lyrics are great, like poetry but cooler.
Here's one of their songs:
Easy/Lucky/Free
Radiohead Muse Modest Mouse Matthew Goodferretzor
Bolded ones are grea, never heard of that last one.

Glad you like them. Matthew Good - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLuMUcRDBc8&feature=related Though that isn't one of my favourites of his, it's still pretty great.[QUOTE="JJ4545"]Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Far better than the name suggests.Engrish_Major

Really? I've loved all the albums. Baby 81 is admittedly somewhat different (more rock 'n' roll) to their previous albums, but they make the transition really well I think. The only bum track is American X, I really like all the rest.[QUOTE="Engrish_Major"][QUOTE="JJ4545"]Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Far better than the name suggests.JJ4545

Their first two are just awesome to me, as I am a fan of the wall-of-noise like Jesus and Mary Chain and MBV and so on, so the first two fit in nicely there.
I'd just say that classic rock (70s and 80s) is better than most stuff out today. Too much of the popular stuff today is hip-hop inspired crud. Not all of it, but much of it is.pseudodog07
Actually, I think a lot of rock today is inspired by the 70s. Stuff like the aformentioned BRMC, and the Strokes and such. Also bands like Arcade Fire come from the glam era of Bowie, Roxy, etc., and Interpol comes from Joy Division. There is a lot of good stuff if you don't just listen to FM and MTV.

I don't doubt it. Unfortuneatly the mainstream media hardly plays the good rock of today. And if I don't hear it on my Walkman, I probably won't hear it.
